First of all, I had low hopes for this fan based on the state it arrived to my apartment from Best Buy. As you can see in the attached pictures, it was clearly used (great quality control...) and the box was torn up, duct taped back up, and seemingly even chewed it spots. You could hear everything clanking around inside and the base was not only covered in dirt, but had actual chunks missing out of it.
Alas, I figured, it's hot, this is my second attempt at getting a fan through Best Buy online (our store in Manhattan does not sell pedestal style fans and I needed one that could reach over my bed) and so, regardless of the horrid state this has arrived in, I will put it together because, as long as it keeps me cool, I'm fine with it at this point.
I put it together, turned it on, and assumed it was on the lowest setting so I went to turn it up.... nope, it was already on the highest setting. I could barely feel it! I went to change it to the low setting to see if maybe I was mistaken and maybe 3 was low and 1 was high? But no, 1 was not even noticeably on, and 3 was the setting that 1 is on a normal fan. So disappointing that I have to lug this all the way back to the store again to return. Never buying fans from best buy again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Stay cool with this Lasko Cyclone 1885 18" pedestal fan that features oscillation to distribute cool air throughout a large area. The multifunction remote lets you easily control the fan from across the room.

Okay, I read the reviews before buying this thing, and thought people were just being petty. I'm not generally a superficial person, and I just wanted a fan to keep me cool in the summer. So when I saw people complaining that this was "tacky" and "all plastic" I thought, whatever, who cares if it's plastic? Not me.
However, when it arrived, holyyyyyyy. I had a pretty standard pedestal fan before this that broke after a couple of years, that I feel is the normal size of every other pedestal fan I've ever owned. This thing, though.... the base is this giant MOUND of bulky weird plastic that is 4x the size of my old fans (not sure why the base had to be so much larger than the rest of the fan) and the overall fan itself was pretty much at least 2x the size of a normal pedestal fan. It made the fan stand out like crazy, and accentuated the fact that it REALLY IS so tacky and cheap looking! For spending this much money on a fan, it looks like one of those ancient ones a great grandmother on welfare still has in her house.
It seemed strong, but I had to return, it was just so hideous and so massive that it couldn't really oscillate anywhere..

Horrible Lag, Overheats
on December 4, 2014

I loved my chromecast for about the first half hour. It's a great idea, poor execution. After using it for a half hour, the video streaming lags IMMENSELY and is just awful, to the point where I would rather just watch on my laptop (even when I switch to the low quality setting as suggested). The device also severely overheats, which worries me. I've heard this is a common problem for chromecast and that there is no way to fix it.
