The leather and metal, the comfort and style, man these are really nice, and also lightweight. Easily driven with maybe only one notch higher on volume for equal sound level to earbuds (as compared to my ie80's). I bought them for running for more isolation so i could play the music even lower, but not sure how well this will pan out. Did some critical comparison on my 2 Sony players and compared to the IE80's. The IE80's have them beat for clarity and engagement, I was on the fence about returning them due to their warmer sound and seemingly poor bass control. But, after awhile I realized I liked the fuller sound with stronger bass extension, very relaxing and seems like a quality experience in spite of issues on some tracks. The real thing is its hard to let go of these at this sale price, the leather and metal man, wow so sophisticated feeling in this plastic world. Well, they seduced me despite their slightly less exciting sound compared to the IE80's. Concerning use while running, yes they get warm and I will likely limit them for no more than 1hour running sessions in 65F or lower weather. I dunno, they really don't beat the IE80's in many regards, but I just can't let them go, something tells me they will seduce me further as time goes on, Sennheisers have a way of doing that.

solid mid level choice

Engaging sound with nice control and balance, recessed vocals but enough to hear them and silky quality, good soundstage. Need to wrap wires over ears to keep them in place, fussy tips, pushing them back in often, ambient noise gets through easily. I have used these for critical listening and are excellent, but also do well for workouts, they hold up to sweat and have been going strong for years. SE535's are much more amazing but I think I sweat in them too much and they died after a couple of years, IE80's cost half the price and have a more dreamy wide soundstage with the warm Sennheiser sound signature. Finally, you can get these to respond at very low volume levels, and is one of the greatest attributes for someone who now has to watch the volume level to avoid hearing damage.
