Best streamer I currently have

I've had it only for a day (the base version, not Pro). So far I love it's streaming apps. Netflix, Amazon, Plex and Sony's Ultra app support 4K HDR, Youtube, Google Movies, Vudu and Ultraflix and a fwe others support 4K (no HDR yet, rumored to come later for Vudu and Youtube). The Netflix app had to be updated on the Google Play Store to get HDR support.
Feels much faster and responsive than my Roku, and better than my Apple TV as that only does 1080p.
Sadly, no Google Home/Assistant support with handsfree mic yet - that apparently comes later this year, even though Nvidia has been touting it as if it's already supported. For now, you have to press a button on the remote or the controller to talk to the system. That works very well.
An annoying thing initially - accidentally touching the vertical touch area for volume control on the remote would pop up a message saying volume is controlled with the amp. I solved it in Settings by enabling CEC Audio. Now the little Shield remote also seamlessly controls the amplifier volume, and no annoying popups on the TV when that area is accidentally touched - easy to do.
The interface is fast. Launching apps, browsing content in them, playing is almost instantaneous. It supports Dolby ATMOS in Vudu. My Shield is connected to my Denon amplifier which supports ATMOS.
I have not explored the gaming aspects at all.
Improvement requests to nVidia:
1. It currently upscales everything to 4K. I wish it'd give an option to send content at the content's original resolution to the TV and let the TV upscale it.
2. Support the TWC (now Spectrum) app for live TV.
3. Add 4K support for Hulu. My XBOX One S already does, which I use for 4K blu-rays and 4K content on Hulu.
4. HURRY UP with the "Google Home" handsfree update.
To me, this is the best streamer on the market now that includes pretty much all the popular streaming content apps. The handsfree microphone update (like Google Home), when it comes, will make it an amazing device.

Superb receiver! Great sound, great features.

I replaced an old Onkyo 608 as I now needed HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 support (for Roku 4 and PC) to connect to my 4K TV (Vizio P65 that has one HDMI 2.0 input and supports HDCP 2.2). What a deal at $499 (on sale) - made me choose this over the current Onkyo models. All the 4K stuff works flawlessly, and some Vudu 4K movies support ATMOS so that's awesome. I added two front ceiling speakers (added to my 5.1 setup) for ATMOS. Setup was a breeze (it did take a few minutes to update its firmware first). The sound is bright, clear and rich - very well balanced - for both music and movies. My Roku 4 already passes through at 4K@60Hz. For the other devices (1080p) I am not using the amp's built-in video upscaling features since its 4K upscaling only goes up to 30Hz. The Vizio TV does a great job of upscaling 720p, 1080i and 1080p to 4K@60Hz anyway. I saw one glitch so far - one time, while playing a 4K Vudu movie on Roku 4, it complained that the device does not support HDCP 2.2. Turning the receiver off and on fixed that.
My 5.1.2 speakers: I am using NHT Super Two as front speakers, a Definitive Tech 2000 as center, NHT SW2 subwoofer, Definitive ProMonitor 800 as rear speakers, and inexpensive Insignia bookshelf speakers as the front ceiling speakers for ATMOS.
All in all, very happy with this receiver. Since it does HDMI 2.0a 18Gbps (Full HDR hardware support) and HDCP 2.2 - I should be set for five years with it.

Great 4K TV for Gamers, Early Adopters
on November 25, 2014

Bought the 65" Vizio P to replace a 58" Samsung plasma (3-4 years old). My primary usage: live TV over the air, PC gaming, movies/shows on Apple TV, Netflix, Amazon Vide, Hulu Plus. I don't have cable or satellite.
Having owned this and playing with this TV for 3 days, here are my observations:
+ 4K display is like retina display - awesome. Watching 4K content on it does for a leap forward. Currently all one can see is only a few shows and documentaries on Netflix, and you have to upgrade to Netflix's $11.99/month plan. Amazon Prime is coming soon, as are dedicated streaming 4K movies services. Will take a while for real 4K content.
+ Probably the best TV for gamers - period. It upscales 1080p games from PC to 4K and they look simply amazing. Input lag is very low (less than 20ms) on HDMI5 with low game latency mode that seems to have zero negative impact on picture quality. If you are a PC or console gamer looking for a large TV, get this one. It will make you squeal with joy.
+ 1080p upscaled to 4K from good sources (live TV, blu-ray, Apple TV shows) are like watching native on a 1080p display - no improvement. 1080p shows from Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Youtube etc look slightly less crispy than I remember, but I went to a larger TV so that could be the reason.
+ Lots of options for picture settings. You have to play around with yours to get the proper "punch" in the picture you are looking for. I am positive that Vizio may not be as good as some TV's that cost an extra $1000 or more, but I came from one of the best plasmas and I am love wi this set. I am still playing around with the settings, tweaking.
- Minor annoyance - the local dimming is great as dark scenes are dark as coal while bright scenes are bright white, but you do see the zones getting lit up slightly around small bright spots. Also there is a delay (half second) in zones turning off after a bright spot scene. But you will not notice any of this during normal viewing or gaming - it will only show up if you are looking for it, like quickly moving a white mouse cursor around the screen rapidly on a black screen.
+ I have audio coming back to receiver via the HDMI1 port that supports ARC and that works well. I never use the TV speakers - they always are pretty bad, and I am sure Vizio is no exception.
+ This TV supports the fast wireless standard AC, faster than N. But I prefer using a wired ethernet connection.
+ Smart TV interface is simple (one button access to the usual suspects in streaming apps).
+ Remote has a keyboard on the back - nice. It lights up in the dark.
+ Did I tell you that this is the best TV for gamers? It is amazing to play multi-player games with seemingly no input lag, which improves your reaction time.
+ I got this at $1499 from Best Buy. What a steal.

My update after two months of use - Still love it!
January 19, 2015
After firmware 1.1.14, the local dimming issue is resolved - thanks, Vizio! Also Amazon 4K and UltraFlix 4K are amazing. The update further improved picture quality (less artificial sharpening), and also added 60Hz support for 4K on HDMI5 from my PC (GTX 970), although I still prefer 1080p at 120Hz - buttery smooth, cleanly upscaled to 4K.
