What a world of difference the HP Series 5 monitor has made for me in only a short period of time! One of my personal computers is a 14-inch laptop, and while I appreciate the size for its portability, working on such a small screen can sometimes be frustrating. This has been true for me the last few months when I purchased a Cricut machine which I use this laptop exclusively for. The 14-inch screen was not cutting it when utilizing Cricut Design Space to create projects. I needed a monitor that gave me better visibility and allowed me to work more efficiently. This HP 24” monitor has exponentially increased my productivity and enjoyment of using my Cricut to craft and, in general, my computer.
Out of the box, the base and stand needed to be connected. No tools were required as HP cleverly manufactured built-in screws that are screwed in by hand. The base is nice and heavy and the screen is very light. The two components complement each other perfectly and provide excellent stability. Within 5 minutes the monitor was assembled and ready for use. Before even turning on the monitor I could not contain my excitement over the adjustable stand. Being able to adjust the height of the monitor is incredible on its own, but HP makes the feature an effortlessly quick and smooth motion that can be accomplished with one hand. Tilting the monitor requires a little more finesse as two hands are required, but it’s just as simple to adjust and another great feature for HP to have included.
After plugging in the power source and connecting the HDMI to my laptop, turning on the monitor was surreal. The frameless edge-to-edge screen was immediately and beautifully displaying my laptop’s desktop. The controls underneath the screen, which I appreciate are physical buttons, were easy to find and very comprehensive to use. Other than adjusting the brightness, the monitor was configured to what I was comfortable with. The monitor’s display, resolution and colors are clear and crisp. I turned on Cricut Design Space and was blown away by what I had been missing from using a small screen. The 24” screen gives me more than enough space to work and create without having to shrink the screen or constantly scroll side to side and up and down. When using other programs, it has been very nice using snap screen to have two windows displayed side-by-side with both windows being large enough to display all of their content. The monitor’s low blue light gives me peace of mind as I spend hours staring at the screen, especially when I am in crafting mode.
Although the monitor is not intended to be a gaming monitor, I connected my older Xbox One X and the display still looks really good at this resolution. The 100 Hz refresh rate works perfectly fine for me. When using Xbox, the only downside I found to the monitor is that it does not have an AUX port to connect speakers. I have alternative methods of having sound when I play Xbox, so while the lack of an audio port is unfortunate, it is not a critical feature for my intended use of the monitor. If anything, the fact that I can use my Xbox is unexpected and a huge plus.
Overall, I am overwhelmed by the quality of the HP 24” Series 5 monitor. Not only has my enjoyment increased when it comes to crafting, but even after a long day of sitting in front of a computer for work, I’m eager and excited to get in front of my computer to complete even the most basic and mundane tasks. It is a game-changer!

Best Used Hardwired

I'm a big fan of the original Alro Essential Spotlight camera. At the time, the color night vision and built in spotlight was really nice, even if only at 1080p. They finally released the Gen 2, now with 2K. It's a definitive improvement in quality and app experience but the battery life looks like it will be a weak point.
So what's different? The Gen 2 has a much thinner profile, to start. But this means a smaller battery and just with a few days of usage, I can already tell this will have to be charged at least twice as often as the gen 1. The battery life is labeled as up to 4 months based on usage which is significantly less than the original model. I plan on having mine permanently plugged in eventually so this won't be an issue for me. However, the Essential XL boasts a 16 month life based on usage so if you can't use wires or the solar panel and charging isn't as convenient, that may be the better option for you. But the biggest draw here is the 2K video quality. The picture is crisp and clear and looks great. The light also seems to be brighter than before, greatly improving night time video. Detection and alerts seem to be working well as usual with no noticeable issues. Additionally, this camera now connects directly to wifi and a base station is no longer required. I do still wish you had the option to connect to it because sometimes it seemed those devices respond better when they are. Not to mention being able to utilize a USB device as well. Though, so far I have been pleasantly surprised with how well the gen 2 is working on just the wifi.
The biggest changes you'll see is within the app. During setup, it says the device requires an upgrade to the new app experience which it automatically does for you. I had just updated the app through google play so I'm not sure if it only upgrades with a purchase of a gen 2 device? Anyway, it takes some getting used to since they moved things around and changed how you do things quite a bit. At first it seemed like more steps to change the usual settings I was used to but after understanding where everything was, I started to like it more. There's a few notable changes I particularly like. First, there is an option for a low power mode which takes snapshots instead of video. You can set it to auto turn on at the threshold (10-30%) you desire. Second, unlike the first Essential Spotlight camera, you can now customize the brightness of the spotlight as well as change it to flashing instead of constant. Third and my favorite, all the original rules you used to have to set for each device in each routine is now listed under the individual devices settings. You can create all the defaults here which will then be used in your routines (now arm away, arm home & standby). From routines, you can further tweak actions, if needed. This is nice because there are a lot more settings to change for each device and this makes things a lot more efficient. The reorganization of these modes was a welcome change as well. Now with the three modes (instead of just arm and disarmed) you have greater control over your current security needs.
What I don't like is they added notifications for every time you arm and disarm now with no way to turn this off at the moment. Also, the feed doesn't manually reset to the top, making you have to scroll up every time you view new clips. For Alexa, while the usual commands still work, I hope eventually I can select which mode she sets Arlo in (as in 'home' instead of just 'away'). There are a couple of other minor issues as well that aren't worth mentioning but hopefully these things can be addressed at some point.

Best Time to Utilize This Series X/S Feature
on June 18, 2023

These integrated memory card slots were a nice touch by Microsoft. They take up no physical room and the console treats it as just an extension of storage as if it's just one unit. The only downside was, cards were proprietary and up until now, there was a monopoly on them from another company. The Western Digital C50 1 TB card is already at a better price point than the other guys, helping to make these cards a lot more affordable and worth it.
So far, this card is working great in my Series X. Moving games between the internal drive and the card was very fast, even for the biggest of games. I played a couple of games from the card and everything ran exactly the same as if it was on the internal hard drive. Setting up was as easy as sliding it in and then choosing whether it will be dedicated for the current console or if you intend to use it on multiple consoles. If you choose to transport it because of the latter, it does come with a card cover to keep it safe. It also comes with a 1(?) month subscription to Game Pass Ultimate, however this is for new members only.
While I find it simple to manage my games and what I keep on my console at any given time, it's nice to be able to keep more installed in case I either want to pick something up again at a moments notice when I'm feeling like it or to play several different games with my family or friends that we may only play once in a while. Installing most games doesn't take too long (with a good internet connection) but some of the bigger titles, of course, are large enough where it can steal precious time away from playing with them.

Amazing All-in-One

I had high hopes for this headset after the rocky start with the Stealth 700 Gen 2. There were so many problems with the device itself not working or the app just refusing to pair or work since the moment I opened the box. It took I believe over a year to get most of the kinks ironed out, yet to this day I still have occasional issues getting it to turn on. I first connected the Stealth Pro to my PC to check for updates (there were none), then to my phone via bluetooth to test out the app, and finally the transmitter to my Xbox Series X. I had no issues doing so, so it's already more reliable out of the box than the 700 Gen 2 ever really was. I played with all the settings in the app and customized things to how I like it and was playing one of my games in no time. Promising, indeed. Then things only got better from there.
Personally, I found the Stealth Pro very comfortable, even for long periods. It has the smallest profile of any of the previous 3 Turtle Beach's I've had. I have a smaller head so it suits me better than any of those did. The shape just feels a lot more ergonomic. While it's adjustable like you would expect, I could see this posing a potential issue for some with larger heads. The cushions are definitely the softest I've used, too. I really love the dual battery packs and built in charging station in the transmitter. It fits perfectly inside the cup in my headset stand. The magnetic cover conceals the batteries nicely and makes switching them out quick and easy. The only design issue I found was with the ergonomics of the buttons. I find that they are slightly awkward to find and press while wearing. They require a bit of a firm press while holding the earpiece still which I found easier to do by quickly taking the headset off. Additionally, all three flat, rubber buttons (bluetooth, power, superhuman hearing) feel similar, even with the slightly bumpy texture of the superhuman hearing button which is meant to help with this. It could have helped to have done more to make them feel different so you could find the button you want by feel without looking. This is really minor, though.
I've never been much of an audiophile but the sound quality of the Stealth Pro has definitely pushed me into caring more. I think the sound quality is phenomenal, especially when I was listening to music on my PC. It creates a really immersive listening experience when paired with the incredible noise cancelling. Gaming is just as amazing. The bass and treble are strong, amplifying sound effects distinctly. They worked great for the couple of FPS I played. Of course if any of it is too much (or too little), like previous headsets, all the usual customization options are here and then some. If several of the presets don't suit you, you can create your own including an equalizer for your music for those who know what they're doing there. As for chat, I was told I sounded crystal clear on both microphones while both gaming and during a phone call.
A great thing about this headset is its multi-platform nature. It's perfect for all in one use besides gaming which several features come in handy for. It has a built-in microphone for calls so you don't need to use the mic boom. You can set the wheel and the custom button functions separately for both the Xbox and computer, which save based on which device you're connected to. It even came with a super soft travel bag so you can take it on the go to use for whatever. Considering all it can do, reliability was a must. Like I mentioned in the beginning, this was the thing I was most worried about. Other than one time, the bluetooth connected to my Series X, PC and phone without problems, as well as switching between them with ease. As for that one time, after switching a battery, I couldn't connect with the app. The headset was paired fine both with my phone and the Xbox still, though. Unplugging the transmitter and turning off the headset again finally got it to connect. It seemed like a bug with the app, but fortunately it only happened once as I could not replicate the problem.
I couldn't be more impressed with the Stealth Pro. I really love nearly everything about this thing.

A Great Companion Grill
on October 16, 2022
Posted by: SillyTurtle
Two things really shine with this outdoor grill: The quick cooking and the all-in-one capabilities. Everything cooks much quicker (and better) across all modes compared to traditional methods. Not just air frying, which is always faster, but even dehydrating and smoking. Of course, I'm sure this will never replace a full blown smoker but for the average person, this does extremely nicely. The pork loin I made was amazing and it smoked much faster than I even expected. I would definitely recommend a thermometer with an alarm and to not stray too far for long. You have to adjust the time based on the booklet and your protein size, and even then, it was done even sooner. I wasn't able to test the dehydrator but I was surprised with the shorter times the directions state. If time saving isn't convenient enough, the multiple modes make things easier as well. The supplied crisper basket lays right on top into grooves on the griddle which allows you to cook fries or vegetables, remove, then continue with your protein immediately after. We grilled chicken and onions, put it in a casserole dish with rice and cheese, then returned it to the machine to bake to finish it off. This offers the ability to cook various meals with this single machine.
The pellets worked great. They give you two small bags of two different flavors (all-purpose mix and a robust mix) which are good from 1-3 sessions each. For the pork loin, I used the all-purpose blend and it was super tender and juicy with a robust, smoked flavor. I was really impressed. The only issue I had was the booklet says one full bin of pellets is good for one full cooking session but I don't find this to be particularly accurate across the board. Based on the pork loin I smoked, I'd say one full bin of pellets equals about 2 hours max of smoking. There is also no reusing pellets as the machine will burn them until gone. Because of this, pellets may be wasted on meals that have a shorter cook time. So you kind of have to learn as you go in order to better judge amounts for your food so you can minimize wasting the pellets. Fortunately, you can just add more as it's cooking. But I think it's a bit misleading. As for using them to infuse your meals with any other non-smoking mode, it's possible they burned a little slower but I could be mistaken. It may have just seemed to because it only lightly draws the smoke in which is great for just that perfect touch of smoked flavor. But besides this minor thing, in my experience, Ninja is always great in supplying recipe/food guides when it comes to kitchen appliances. That is still especially true, here. The food charts for each mode they give you will forever be invaluable in helping you cook everything correctly across the various modes. We've always found their booklets accurate and as usual, following their instructions resulted in evenly, well cooked food each time we used it.
Cleaning the removable griddle is really simple since the non-stick coating allows everything to just kind of slide right off. Definitely use foil like they say to line the drip tray, it makes cleaning it much easier, and the drip tray is small enough to throw in the fridge to reuse later if you had minimal drippings. Everything cools off pretty quickly, too. The rest of the machine is less easy to clean, though. Expect it to of course splatter all over the inside of the hood and around the handles/base. You're supposed to avoid using abrasive cleaners on anything non-removable so you just have to do your best to wipe it.
The only glaring problem I could see is the cord is short at about 4 feet, although it's for good reason. They cite it being a safety hazard like a child accidentally tripping or getting caught in it which is understandable but be aware as this may be an issue for your setup. If this is an issue you'd have to get a suitably rated outdoor extension cord. Otherwise, we can't say enough good about this Ninja outdoor grill. The food was delicious and cooked well every time. It's a great supplemental grill to have in addition to your current charcoal or gas grill. But it's still a good alternative if you don't have either. Especially if you prefer electric.
PROS
- Cooks quickly!
- Consistent, evenly cooked food
- Griddle/Crisper Tray easy to clean
- Add smoke flavor to any dish
CONS
- Anything other than the griddle/tray not as easy to keep clean
- Must use Ninja brand wood pellets
- Must cover/bring in when not in use (Ninja cover sold separately)

Does It All Well
on October 7, 2022
Posted by: SillyTurtle
There are plenty of brands to choose from when it comes to air purifiers but being an avid lover of Shark products, I knew this would be the one for me. We wanted to add a fan to but also update our air purifier in the kitchen. Not only did I get both, but a heater thrown in as well. I will say it actually does do all very well, too. I love that it purifies the air no matter the mode you're in. The actual "purified air" mode offers the most optimal cleaning but it frees up the spot we had for our fan in the summer and will offer warmth in the colder months, helping our HVAC. This makes it super useful year round. The fact it has a setting to match the heat to the temperature in the room is quite a step above, too. All this and it's still a considerably compact size.
The most helpful feature is its "auto" mode. My wife was cooking with oil and it was interesting how the air quality was instantly effected throughout the process. We first had it on the fan mode, so we changed it to "Auto" and watched as it automatically raised the speed to counteract the oil in the air. The percentage was changing with respect to how strong/weak the smell was, as well as, during moments like when she was flipping the food and the oil flared up. We open our back door and it actually detects the air from outside causing the quality to drop. Usually the house smells like oil for the next day (even with the former purifier) but with this we didn't have to deal with the smell at all after cooking as the air was clean soon after. Once it reached 100% it automatically dropped the lowest speed. I love how hands off this mode is.
While it always shows the percentage of the overall air quality, I like that you can get a semi-detailed breakdown by cycling the info button. It tracks 3 particle matter groups (PM 1, PM 2.5, PM 10) and gives the percentage level detected for each one. You can use these readings to help pinpoint your air quality issues and address them.
Overall the noise level for the machine is pretty low. The highest settings are very respectable and the lowest are so whisper quiet, it's hard to tell if it's even on. The fan is the loudest of course but the heater is very quiet even on the highest setting. While it seems like it's only blowing lightly, it projects a pretty strong, consistent heat.
It has a few other nice touches. The vent has a damper to direct the flow vertically. The machine is controlled by a detachable remote that also magnetically secures and sits flush in a nest on top of the machine. The info button provides some other helpful information like how much longer the filter has left, I just hope not needing to change it for 6-12 months is accurate.
The only major thing that bothers me is there are no handles or gripping points for picking up and carrying the machine. It's not terribly heavy but it's not light either. I'm very surprised there isn't at least a cutout or something somewhere to get your fingers into. The plastic housing is smooth and a tad slippery, so it does increase the risk of dropping and damaging the unit. A minor issue I also have was it doesn't oscillate as much as I would like. It only covers a 45 degree span.
PROS
- Automated purification mode
- Air purifies in all modes
- Accurately monitors air quality/temperature
- Low noise levels
CONS
- Auto mode works in "Purified Air" mode only
- Oscillating covers only a small angle

Cafe Quality, At Home Convenience
on October 6, 2022
Posted by: SillyTurtle
PROS
- Great espresso/coffee, fast
- Makes multiple drinks before requiring cleaning
- Re-programmable defaults for drinks
- Built-in conical burr grinder
- Uses its own water filter
- Easy to use interface
CONS
- Only one "My Latte" can be programmed at a time
- Adjusting some things can be finicky
I will say first, there is a lot of information to take in. I'd recommend taking the time to read through the manual and quick start guide and read it all carefully. There is a lot of cautionary notes and important instructions for using the machine to ensure optimal performance and to prevent damage. While everything might sound intimidating, everything from the instruction booklets/guides to the interface on the machine itself was designed with making it as easy to understand as possible. The booklets are full of step by step instructions that are loaded with pictures and diagrams. The buttons on the machine are obvious enough where you can learn quickly what each does without the need to look it up later. Most stuff you'll come to remember in time but make sure to keep at least the quick start guide close by. I ended up making my own sheet to print out with all the pertinent information for quick access.
De'Longhi was nice to supply a small bag of whole bean coffee. The machine needs to be primed (the first initial cleaning of all parts) and part of this process is brewing and discarding 3-4 espressos. This means you don't have to waste your own bought stuff in doing so, at least. There is certainly a process to get the machine customized to where you want it. First the initial setup and then many more brews to tweak the grinder to the ideal level which there's more to say about below. There was still plenty left over to actually enjoy. They also provided some of their descaling solution for future cleaning which I appreciate.
WHAT I LIKE
The size of the machine is quite shocking considering all it does. It's more long than it is wide which will use the space on your counter more efficiently than if it was the other way around. It's also not much taller than your usual appliances so I'm sure it will fit under the cabinets of most average households. While I loved my previous machine, I found myself having less espresso over time since it was a process to make and required an equal amount of cleaning after every single cup. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed and appreciated the process. I took pride in using the correct amount of grounds, tamping and steaming it correctly and being rewarded for my efforts. This machine is all about convenience. You pour the beans in, connect the milk if necessary, choose your preferred strength and drink and you'll quickly have a consistently fresh made beverage. I recommend the highest setting for the most flavor. The bean, water, drip tray and discarded grounds bin have large capacities which allows you to make a significant amount of drinks before you need to refill or discard. The grinds are discarded in what looks like little brownies which make for easy cleaning. I now get many drinks for every bit of cleaning that is required which is especially invaluable when having many guests over. Plus, no more spending time pre-grinding beans and dealing with the cleanup/storing of them.
The LatteCrema system is pretty impressive with how fast it takes the milk, heats it up and froths it. The way I had to do this with my other machine took longer and several more steps to achieve this. The milk frothed really well with everything I used so far which was half & half, whole (cow's) and almond milk. The compact milk container can do up to 2 lattes, 2 cappuccinos or probably a combination of 1 each before needing to be refilled. If there is some left over, It easily detaches so you can store the container in the refrigerator.
Nearly absolutely everything can be customized. All the defaults can be changed to your liking, however it must be done manually but more on that below. The only one I don't recommend changing is the coffee default (6.08 oz.) to it's max (8.11 oz) since it will become too watered down. I think all the rest are set at a respectable amount but if it's not to your liking, you can change them as long as they are within the allotted range. At first I thought it was a shame you could only program a single custom My Latte beverage but turns out it's really not necessary with all the preset options. I'm grateful for the one because I was able to program a doppio with using only the minimum allowed amount of milk since I like a higher coffee to milk ratio. You can only do single shots with the other presets so this allows me to fill the milk container to the custom amount I want and it will use all of it.
It comes with a couple more convenient features. Surprisingly, it can brew from pre-ground albeit in a limited capacity. It brews really well, but because of the restricted amount of pre-ground you can put in at once, it's slightly watered down. The profile will depend more on what you put in. I used a dark roast each time too, which is probably your best bet for more coffee flavor. I'd recommend using this setting for those who prefer (or just in the mood for) a lighter tasting coffee. Use a medium or light roast accordingly to further effect based on the individual's taste. Or, if you or someone isn't in the mood for coffee at all, it has a spout you can use to dispense hot water over some tea.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
I think the way the grinder is adjusted is odd. The only time you're supposed to turn the dial is the small window when it's grinding the beans while it's in the process of making your beverage. It also doesn't take effect until a couple of drinks later. I can see this leading to a lot of "wasted" cups every time you change brands if it requires a need to change the setting. Based on my previous experience and the extraction guidelines given, the default setting still wasn't ideal so I adjusted it. I misread it (my fault) and went the wrong way so there was a lot of cups made before I got it to where it should be. I'm not sure if there is any way around this when designing the machine but it's still unfortunate. My guess is there is a container that holds a certain amount of reserves under the grinder that it goes through before getting to newly ground beans.
The way you customize the default amount that comes out upon a press of one of the drink buttons is done by purely eyeballing it. I find this a bit inconvenient. I was hoping for a button press like 1-4 where 1 is the least possible and 5 is the most possible within the allotted range. Other settings are done this way, so I'm not sure why this couldn't be as well. The plus side of the current way is you can set it to the EXACT amount you wish within the range but a 1-4 scale I'm sure would have had a close setting most would be happy with.
Overall there is a lot to love with this machine. Once I got everything dialed in (and many, many cups later) I'm enjoying great tasting coffee and now I'll be able to do so as quickly and often as desired.
*NOTE: It's easy to miss but when initially cleaning all the accessories, do not use detergent on the infuser inside the machine. It's engraved on the piece itself but in my poor lighting I didn't see it, plus I was assuming it was part of the step of "clean all the parts and accessories" before first use so I missed that warning.

Reliable As Always
on September 1, 2022
Posted by: SillyTurtle
I've been using Linksys routers for a while now and I always found them reliable. My former Linksys mesh router (Max-Stream MR7350) had a range of 1700 sq ft, and 25+ devices. Even in a nearly 2900 sq. ft. house, along with a single Velop mesh node it has done it's job well. Of course my device list has greatly grown since and an update was required that better suited my environment. The Hydra Pro 6 (MR5500) advertises a 2700 sq ft range and 30+ connected devices. I used the Velop mesh node for my 1st floor to account for my extra square footage. Switching it from my previous router and connecting it to this one gave me trouble but it eventually paired after several resets of the device. It was almost as if the setup on the app was stuck in a loop. On the plus side I was able to test the range of the router without it. My kitchen/dining room on the first floor is both the furthest part of the house and furthest away from the router which always created a dead spot from all the appliance interference. The Hydra Pro actually had a very good signal on it's own unlike the other which relied completely on the Velop node. Setup of the router itself was seamless as it usually is with this brand.
Besides reliability, one of the other reasons I have stuck with Linksys is because their software is user-friendly, albeit simple compared to what I was used to back in the day, yet it allows me to create the most efficient setups for my needs. This is especially true when upgrading to a new device. The user interface remains the same from previous models so if you're a returning customer than you already know where everything is. The integrated Help documentation has personally been integral for helping me learn and guide me over the years in setting up proper networks.
Using their routers, I was able to create a dual router setup. In an attempt to separate the device loads I hooked up my prior non-mesh Linksys router before the MR7350 for a second access point and network. I would put older devices on the older router as well as use it like a "guest" network and keep all the main devices on the newer router. For the most part this worked really well except for two of my older devices would lose signal and I would just have to occasionally refresh the connection with them. The two wired devices I had connected worked flawlessly, though. The Hydra Pro actually states it supports Wired Backhaul for doing things like this. While the last model didn't list it as a feature, it still worked well aside from that one issue. I once again did this setup and everything seems to be running even smoother. With this model, that one issue also no longer seems to be happening. I'm not positive whether if it's both routers now being mesh capable, the Wired Backhaul or a combination of both but in any case, Linksys makes it work. I have strong signals to all my devices throughout the house, including a few outside cameras.
My only real complaint for these routers is they make these adapter cords way too short. It makes placing your router (and in turn, your furniture) limited. I don't have whole house ethernet wiring so it particularly makes it an issue for me since I'm limited to just one room. Another issue I seem to have with this router like I did with my last one, there is no option to back up configurations anymore. I could always do it up until at some point, as if an update removed the option entirely. I'm connected to my home network as I always have been so that that isn't the problem like the "help" menu suggests. There isn't too many options to mess with if you're familiar with things but it's still a bit of a bummer.
Ultimately, the Hydra Pro 6 indeed works great and it should be ideal for a lot of homes. There's little else to speak on other than about it's value for the money. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure it warrants it's higher price tag. My former MR7350 performed well for me despite my house demands through it's great mesh system in combination with the Velop node. Assuming the model below this, the Hydra 6, is even better than that (it has better specs across the board) that may just be all that's necessary considering the specs aren't all that much lower than the Hydra Pro 6 yet at a much lower cost. But these expandable mesh routers are seamlessly everlasting these days and perhaps it's greatest compliment from a consumer standpoint may not be the best thing for the seller, thus the price tag. Regardless, the Hydra Pro 6 is a great choice and another great addition to the Linksys family.

Like Having a Smart Phone On Your Wrist
on August 29, 2022
Posted by: SillyTurtle
COMFORT
It's probably worth noting I have yet to own any watch. I only recently felt any interest in them and I wanted to wait for the right one. I've always been a fan of Samsung products for a very long time so it only made sense. Comfort has always been very important to me since I don't tend to like to wear anything. I was actually quite surprised with just how comfortable the watch is. I have hairy arms and normally it causes problems when I wear anything. But the band is really soft (yet firm) and doesn't pull on me. While the back of the device looks as if it's going to dig into you, you don't even feel anything. All this is surprising considering the large screen yet it still feels very light on the wrist.
DEVICE
While it's feature rich, setup was still quick and it's very intuitive and easy to use. Syncing and connecting is seamless. I absolutely love the integrated tutorial and having all that, quite literally, on hand. It leaves one less manual laying around that you'll never have with you. The customization is fantastic and fun to personalize which was also an important factor in choosing a watch. I don't always use a lot of features on smart devices so being able to just use and keep what I like up front is great. Maybe it's my age but I still like physical buttons. So I love that they have one for turning on the display which really decreases the chances of you accidentally turning it on and inadvertently messing with things. All this is made even better with it's crisp and clear display and responsive and accurate touch controls. It has a new sapphire crystal glass display which I was told by a tech savvy family member that is a very welcome upgrade. I tend to bang into things so knowing I have an extra durable screen gives me more peace of mind. The battery life is ok (more on that below) but at least it seems to be fast charging. At 16% battery it only took 1 hour to charge. Fortunately, I was able to test it's waterproof capabilities. Without going into detail, whether just swimming or jumping off of 16ft high ledges, it held up very well and stayed on just fine.
There are just a few downsides. Most notably would be the battery life. On power save mode I made it to 2 and a half days (16% left) from a full charge with pretty heavy use, considering there was a LOT to customize and set up. Without it, I'm sure it will be significantly less. This may not be bad for some but I'm sure it may bother some people. In the end it all depends on how you use it and what your needs are. While the device has plenty of health features, it does require numerous apps to make use of them. Those being Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health and Samsung Health Monitor. Lastly, maybe this is just how it is these days but a USB C adapter is NOT included for charging. You get the cable only. So keep this in mind if you don't have one available than you'll need to purchase separately.
It really feels like Samsung thought of it all when designing this. What seems obvious, is they want to make sure the Galaxy Watch is the only smart watch you'll ever want. My wife has been using a smaller competitors fitness watch for a year and a half but it just abruptly died on her. After seeing the Galaxy Watch 5, she wants one and will probably never look back.
PROS
- Comfortable yet durable
- Lots of customization
- Responsive/Accurate
- Fast charging
CONS
- Battery life
- Requires several apps to make maximum use of features
- USB-C adapter must be bought separately
I would recommend this to a friend!

Setup was instantaneous. They paired right away without issue which surprisingly isn't as often as you'd think for devices today for some reason. It even conveniently directs you right to the app to download. After the initial pairing they connect quickly after being removed from the case. It was just as easy pairing to another device if needed which I discovered when I let my wife try them out.
THE GOOD
They are extremely comfortable and are definitely the best in that regard of all the buds I've used previously. They remain comfortable even after long periods of time and I'm confident they will stay secure no matter what I'm doing. The large selection of ear pieces will make sure of this no matter who you are. While I'm not a huge sound guy, I really think the sound is great. It feels full with just the perfect amount of bass to my liking. I haven't tried any calls yet other than with my wife but it sounded very clear to us. The app further offers customization like an equalizer (I'm always a fan of that feature) and other options to change how you use it. It's quite user friendly, too. What's also nice is I don't see any reason you have to use the app if you don't want to, either. More products need to do this where the app is more of a companion and not a requirement. On top of all this, between the buds and the case it has a really nice, long battery life.
The Awareness mode is impressive. While it's not labeled as a noise canceling device per-say, it really blocks out sound well. Depending on what you're listening to and your volume (and your settings), it really cancels out nearly everything. I was outside testing them out watching a youtube video and all I could hear was the very faint sound of someone mowing a lawn. All the birds, planes and whatever noise my wife was making in the yard was lost to me. With music, I would have heard nothing. I let me wife try them out for a bit and she was listening to music with the Awareness mode off. I went to talk to her later in the day. I approached her from behind, only a few feet away, while she was doing something else and said her name multiple times but she couldn't hear me. I literally started shouting her name and still nothing. It wasn't until she turned around and saw me that she realized I was trying to speak to her. How much sound is let in with this mode can be changed within the app which really furthers its versatility. You can change the custom button on each bud but I like having the default activate/deactivate Awareness mode as mine.
THE NOT AS GOOD
There are only a couple of things I find an issue with. The first is there is no volume controls on the buds themselves. You must change volume from the phone which is pretty inconvenient. The second is that i'm not completely sold on the case, yet. It's really nice, it's indeed pretty compact and lightweight, but there are a couple of things that give me concern. While I understand the fabric cover's purpose is breathability in order to air it out from sweat/moisture, it's kind of a double edge sword. Underneath the fabric, the hard plastic is only surrounding the buds leaving them to protrude out through the fabric thus decreasing their protection. With the help of the magnets, it seems to hold the buds in place but they have some wiggle room with the ear pieces I'm using. I do wonder if they will become easily displaced with constant movement in a pocket or bag ceasing charging. The charging points seem a bit precarious and sometimes it takes some wiggling of the buds for the lights to turn on in the case and be detected. I notice closing and opening the case lid works, too. The lack of hard plastic in the cover is probably a contributing factor. The only reason I question if things are working properly is because one of the buds appeared to not charge one time and the app always shows one side lower than the other so now I feel like I have to take more care than I should when putting them away. Also, not too big of a deal but still worth noting is sometimes I found the touch controls unresponsive.
Overall, the buds themselves are a solid product. I don't feel like the inconveniences hinder the product in a significant enough way for me to reduce an entire star.
PROS
- Great sound quality
- Great battery life
- Serious noise control offers versatility
- Plethora of different attachments to choose from
CONS
- No volume controls on buds themselves
- Case protection is concerning, magnets holding the buds are finicky

panasonic is making a comeback
By decoylogic
I waited a month before writing this to make my review as fair as possible.
Pro's:
+ excellent picture
+ easy remote navigation
+ great price
+ easy setup/menu navigation
+ decent apps/fast browsing
Cons:
- Panasonic's software has a hard time syncing/mirroring with our samsung phones. It's only connected once since I've had it.
-no software updates (as of right now. Hoping there will be in the future)
In all, for the price it's a fantastic tv. We bought a panasonic smart bluray player and that solved the mirroring issue.

Make sure you have a compatible headset before buy
By finalfantasy from myrtle beach sc
I used it with the 360 turtle beach x12. If you have the controller plugged in to a play and charge at the same time, your friends will hear the static sounding feedback. The volume and chat had to be adjusted and tinkered since it was on the pad and turtle beaches. I seriously thought about getting a compatible xbox one headset instead when it goes on sale. So beware while it works, to me it wasn't the greatest.

Just curious, did you change the camera video quality in "Video Settings" to best video? There is a slider that balances quality vs battery. Default I think is the middle (optimized).

Best of Both Worlds
By SillyTurtle from Charlotte, NC
Before you do anything, run the Dell SupportAssist program and click the link for Drivers and Downloads. Find your service tag under the flap on the back of the device and type it in to get the updates for your device. I agree with others that have mentioned this as these updates do seem to fix most of the major issues for people. Two of which I had experience with myself but I’ll come back to that later.
Let’s get to all the good things first. The first notable thing is the quality of the device itself. The body, the feel and the look of the XPS is beautiful. It looks and feels extremely well made and durable yet at the same time it’s still very light and portable. It's small without feeling small considering the high resolution. The display itself looks amazing and the sound quality of the stereo speakers is impressive (at least to me). I didn’t expect this thing to output such good sound but it surely did to both me and my wife. I love the large 2 in 1 touchpad with the built in buttons. I found it very comfortable and intuitive and I think I like it better than any previous laptop I have used. To top it all off, having a backlit keyboard is SO convenient and makes me never want to use another similar device without it. One of the biggest things I’m a stickler for with keyboards is how they feel. When I use one I either like it or I don’t and fortunately I really do like this one. The keys feel good, are quiet and laid out nicely where I never miss a key.
The next notable thing to mention is the touchscreen since that is half the device’s appeal. After playing with Windows Ink, playing a touch intensive xbox game off the windows store and using it for general tasks, my wife and I have found it to be flawless. It’s extremely responsive to the T (literally). Windows Ink allows you to draw, paint, write and take notes at any time including whatever is on your screen almost instantly. There are plenty of programs just for it in the store that extends its capabilities whether it’s creating a cell animation for fun or professional use. Windows Ink seems full of possibilities and I’m sure I will continue to find new ways to both make good functional use of it and a little fun. I saw you can get special stylus pens with buttons that utilize the Bluetooth compatibility which I bet offers a ton of potential uses. Flipping it from laptop to tablet is seamless and just allows full freedom to use in any way you currently please. I enjoy using it like a hybrid with a combination of touch screen and keyboard. When I’m in the mood and I only use it in tablet form the touch keyboard is more than capable. Plus however you fold it, it stays. Overall this XPS is fast, intuitive and an all-around great device.
Now - the two things I personally had issues with that I previously mentioned was the fingerprint reader and the dynamic backlight control feature. Originally there was no option to turn off the DBC which automatically adjusted the screen brightness based on what you were doing in order to save battery. I, like many other people, find this feature bothersome. Dell was great enough to add this option in an update so now you may turn it off. For those I saw who said they still had the problem after installing it, if it only happens when using Microsoft Edge then make sure you have the browser setting for “reading view style” to default. I believe this is what I changed (I had it on light) to stop it from auto adjusting during internet use. If I’m mistaken than I apologize. As for the fingerprint reader I had some issues using it. I ran through the calibration twice too. My wife had no issues whatsoever with it so the problem was isolated to just me. Perhaps it had something to do with the size of my finger plus some user error but ever since the update it has been good since.
Aside from that, here are my perceived shortcomings of the device. By far my biggest gripe is this thing isn’t easy to open. Opening any device should never be a struggle and at times you really have to put a lot of effort into opening it. All it needed was a slight, unnoticeable crevice/indent on the edge below the touchpad to get that small bit of leverage. It didn’t have to be much. It’s an odd thing to have a problem with on an expensive device like this although you could consider it very minor in importance. I much rather have this be an issue over something that affects performance. Secondly, the camera is located below the screen which is a new experience to me. I played with it once and found it a bit awkward and troublesome to get a good angle to take my profile picture. I’m sure with some practice I could make it work eventually but I just went with an image instead in the end. Putting the camera on the bottom like this was a compromise for size efficiency and to get the biggest screen possible. Something always has to give in instances like this and I believe it was a smart move but nonetheless, an accepted (and doable) flaw. Thirdly, I still can’t gauge how good the battery life is. I think I can get 6-7 hours of regular use, non-video, which is pretty decent although it seems lower than the description states. After I did the updates it seemed to definitely improve though. But like someone else mentioned it seems to drain when it’s closed and in standby mode. Also the “time remaining” doesn’t seem that accurate as the time drops a lot more rapidly regardless what it says which someone also mentioned. I could have missed an update and will go back and make sure I have everything so if anything changes I will update this part of the review after further use. Lastly, the fingerprint reader is very difficult to see in low light conditions. A slight superficial colored border or a change in the shade of black would have sufficed to find it quicker without squinting. I can't give half stars and it would be unfair to lower this to a four as I'd give it a 4.5. It's a definite 5 if none of this stuff matters to you for sure.

UPDATE
May 11, 2017
I can't update reviews directly so I'm adding a comment. While the battery life is still decent, I would have expected a lot longer for the price. I keep it on 10% brightness with battery saver on which is the only way to get a real extended use. The average for actual use (music, windows games... and while I have yet to test it, movies I'm sure) and normal (non battery saving) brightness is still 6-7 hours it seems. There are a lot of variables that can prolong or decrease the life but I didn't think I'd have to worry so much about it at this price point. I'd probably lower the score to 4 STARS like many other people have based on similar reasons. But again, if some of the things I mentioned don't bother or effect you that much then it's 4 STARS +.

Take in the scenery with this Parrot ANAFI drone. The robust, compact design lets you carry it wherever the trail takes you, and the drone unfolds easily when it's time for flight. The camera captures beautiful 4K images and video, and this Parrot ANAFI drone keeps your footage smooth with its three-axis image stabilization.Fly Responsibly:Before takeoff, update all software and firmware, and read the instructions thoroughly.See the FAA website for registration requirements and information about flying a drone safely: https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/. Additional state or local requirements may apply. Check your local jurisdiction. The following websites may help you make informed decisions about flying your drone: www.knowbeforeyoufly.org and www.modelaircraft.org.

I am looking to get a new Drone for outdoor flying. Should I consider this one or the DJI? I will be mostly inspecting the roofs for my clients so I need an hour or so of battery life (I will buy additional batteries). I may wish to record indoors too.

I think the 180 degree camera swivel is a key feature that makes this drone stand above when it comes to functional use. When you combine that with the 2.7 lossless zoom you can get pictures and angles of areas you can't with any other drone. I don't know anything about other drones though but based on principal alone, since this is the first drone to offer such things I don't see how others could pull off what this one can. Not to mention the compact design that makes this easy to travel with. It says 25 minute battery life so with a second battery you will get closer to an hour. I also don't see why you wouldn't be able to charge the drone in the car as you drive around to clients to extend that further.

NAT Type with Motorola SB6183

I bought a Motorola SB6183 and the connection speed to the internet has been great but the connectivity to my PS4 has not been great. When I hook directly into the Surfboard it gives me a NAT Type-1 which I am guessing is causing problems with the connectivity. Is there any way to change this on a Surfboard?
I'm only familiar with xbox but I assume it's similar, does Sony offer the ports for you to open (port forwarding) in your router to open your NAT? I would try looking into that.

I just posted a review but in short, get a good HDMI cable the SUPPORTS 120Hz, It will say if it does on the back of the box. It can look really bad after awhile (sometimes instantly for some) without one that does support it. But its a world of difference with a good cable!
