I was very happy with this humidifier for the first three weeks. But now it doesn't shut off. It will continue to run even when the humidity is much higher than the setting. I've even tried setting it on the lowest setting and it still doesn't shut off. It does work well to humidify my apartment, but part of the reason I decided to pay the higher price for this unit was for the auto shut-off. In this case, you might NOT get what you pay for. I didn't.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Shortly after I posted my review the humidifier started making a screeching noise after it ran for an hour or so. I believe the motor was going bad. I ended up returning it to Best Buy and getting a refund as they had none in stock for an exchange. Now I'm left with a package of two new filters I ordered but no humidifier to use them in. I'll order another one, and hope I have better luck with the second one than I did the first one.
