James Cameron said that this "was the greatest space movie ever made." I would disagree. It's definitely the best 3D space Movie ever, but for me the story is too simple. Don't get me wrong, the movie is great! Bullock and Clooney make this movie more engaging and the ambient/electronic music hammers it home....but it's not 2001...

Paul Verhoeven's classic 1987 feature gets a brand new 4K remastering...and the picture is flipping awesome! Most of it looks like it was shot yesterday. They should have forgot about the remake and re-released this back into the theaters. Add to that the already fantastic mix of direction, acting, music, story, and effects. Only gets better with time....so forget spending anything on the PG-13 remake, and go for the Hard R!

What's great about it: Newly 4K remastered 1080p picture. And besides that...Everything!
What's not so great: Nothing. Sci-Fi Classic!

John Cherry directs Jim Varney in the comedy Ernest Saves Christmas, which comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, making it quite difficult to recommend this Disney/Buena Vista release to anyone who is not an Ernest fan. There is little here for the average DVD consumer.

Jim Varney kills as usual as helps Santa save Christmas in this holiday outing for everybody's favorite handyman Ernest P. Worrell. As others have stated, this isn't his best (I would give that up to Ernest Scared Stupid) but I digress. It's Ernest. KnowhutImeanVerne?

Riveting True Story about "justice"

Daniel Day-Lewis gives another outstanding performance as a man whose wrongfully imprisoned, along with friends and family, for more then 15 years, and his search for justice...and to clear his father's name. Exceptional acting all around and excellent cinematography help transport us back through the almost two decade quest for true justice.

Early Sandler & Farley bring the laughs

Adam Sandler and Chris Farley are among two of the comedy stars of this hilarious outing about members of a rock group who dream of making it big....so they hi-jack a radio station. Seeing Sandler and Farley before they really hit it big is the real ticket. Much funnier then anything Sandler has put out in recent years, and of course it's always nice to see Farley "improvise." Sit back, laugh and enjoy many cameos...

Tales Of The Not so Distant Future

Richard Kelly's follow up to his astonishing first feature "Donnie Darko,' another extremely original film finds us in the near future which shows us that "this is the way the world ends..." The many storylines require multiple viewings to even begin to try to wrap your mind around it. After you start getting into it, its a strange mind trip. If you like movies that require multiple viewings...this is for you. If you like easy simple fare...stay away.

What's not so great: Too Deep/Smart for its own Good

Great Cast including Tony Todd (Candyman), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), James Duval (Donnie Darko), Jeff Fahey (The Lawnmower Man), Michael Biehn (Aliens), Noah Hathaway (The Neverending Story). A Gangster gets released from prison and that night his old friends arrange a sushi dinner served over a delectable young naked woman, who has more then just appetizing on her mind. Acting like I mentioned is fantastic with aforementioned stars chewing up more then just sushi. Doesn't quite reach the heights of Tarantino, but enjoyable and deeper then the just the first helping.

If you're looking at this movie, then you probably already know what you're in for. Shane Carruth's follow up to his time travel tale "Primer". This is a slow burner, and takes it time to tell a story about two people who come together after a strange little organism comes into play. If you like movies that make you think...and leave you questioning what you just watched...

Prison Horror Film Goes For Shocks

Early Viggo Mortensen starring vehicle with Renny Harlin in the director's chair. New inmates arrive at a prison and it begins to stir up bad memories from the Warden's past. Has some shocking gore scenes, never seen somebody strapped to an electric chair like that, but the story and twists were easy to decipher. Buy it if you really like Viggo movies, but the revenge story was done better elsewhere.
What's great about it: Atmosphere and Gore
What's not so great: Acting and Average Story
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Early 80's Slasher Flick

Made just as the early 80's slasher flick genre took off, sees a group of teens spending their time at summer camp who have the unfortunate luck of meeting a caretaker out for revenge. And of course they meet their ends in increasingly gory fashion. If you're interested in this kind of movie, you won't be disapointed. Check it out for the Rafting scene alone!
What's great about it: Gore Effects, Campiness
What's not so great: Acting
