Love this washing machine!

We've had this washing machine two weeks now, after suffering for 7.5 years with an awful front loading machine (never again!). It's easy to use, has many great cycle options, and washes small or large loads with ease. I've used it to wash casual adult and baby clothing, bedding (sheets, comforters, quilts and fleece blankets), towels, and dress clothes. Everything has come out clean and fresh.

Cycles are fast. The noise is minimal, the most noise is when water is filling and draining, but it's not as loud as our previous front loader. The machine, so far, as stayed balanced much better than our previous machine. One special thing I've noticed so far is that I haven't had to use any type of fabric softener, clothes are coming out of the dryer soft and static free after being washed in this new machine, with only detergent. I have no idea why that would be happening, but I'll take it! On a detergent note, this machine uses the tiniest amount of detergent, a "48 loads" bottle is maybe 1/4 gone and has been in use for at least 20 loads! We use Tide Free, and the amount of soap used is the "1" on the cap. Crazy! More money savings!

Install went well, the gentlemen arrived within the two hour window and called us about a half hour ahead to let us know they were nearby. Machine was installed well, old horrible machine was taken away and everything was cleaned up.

If I had ANYTHING at all bad to say about this machine, it's that it has a huge capacity and therefore is a little challenging for a 5'3 individual such as myself to reach the very bottom to get those tiny baby socks. But, it's not a huge deal.

I would recommend this to a friend!

Can you wash just one pair of slacks and one shirt

My son needs to wash his uniform every day. What is the best way to do this

I haven't washed a load quite this tiny, but the machine does automatically adjust to the level of clothing inside, so it's possibly worth a try. Personally, I'd try to wash 3-5 other items along with his uniform if possible. I'm not sure if the uniform needs to be washed separately. The smallest load I've washed is around 8-10 hand towels.

Bleach dispenser not emptying

I just bought the wa48h7400a & for the first use I ran a bleach load, did not fill bleach to max line. Lots of bleach still in the dispenser. Just ran another bleach load, did not add any more bleach, & there's still bleach left in the dispenser. This can't be right, can it? If it empties any more bleach into the next load it'll ruin the non-bleach stuff. The dispenser doesn't seem to come out for emptying & there's nothing about this in the manual. Help!!

Are you certain it's bleach? All of our dispensers have some water sitting in them after each cycle, which the manual states is normal. If you think it's bleach and not water, that sounds like a defect and I'd call the company.

Is HE Top Loader not gentle on clothes (as stated in Consumer Reports)?

Consumer Reports states that the HE top loads are not as gentle as the front loads and that the clothes are more wrinkled etc. Is that the case?

I've not noticed anything to support that claim. Our clothes are coming out soft and wrinkle free, even without the use of fabric softener.

How long does average wash cycle last?

I had a front load, and the average cycle was an hour. How long does the average load take on this washer?

It varies widely depending on load size and which wash cycle you choose. Cotton/normal cycle with an average load size takes around 40 minutes.

hand-washable cycle?

According to Best Buy's website, this washer does not have a hand-washable cycle. According to a competitor's website, it does. Which is correct?

No hand wash cycle that I can see on our machine, I think the manual mentioned using the delicate or wool cycle for this purpose.

How loud (in decibles) is this machine

My washroom is right next to my TV room.
The specs for this machine does not list the decibels.
Does LG make a quieter washer? That's NOT a front loader.

I don't know how loud in decibels specifically, but it's not terribly loud. The filling and draining portion of the cycle has the most noise, but both are fast. My desk sits just outside of the laundry room and with the door closed, it's not at all bothersome, and I'm very sensitive to noise.
