An all-singing mishmash of horror and comedy wrapped around a simple mystery narrative: a child has been reported missing on the remote island of Summerisle, and dour policeman Howie (Edward Woodward) is the only one capable of finding out what happened. Ultimately it’s a horror film, but there’s very little violence, no jump scares, and most of the action takes place during the day. It’s playful and sometimes even joyous, but it has an unsettling atmosphere that builds and builds to an iconic (and horrifying) climax.
Closed Circuit Extreme is a test of the nerves and endurance of the viewer. It is a brutal piece of social commentary, a wake-up call to the world at large that these things actually happen.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer [20th Anniversary Special Edition] [DVD] [1986]
It’s the matter of fact, impassive observational style that lends the film such a hard-hitting, disturbing edge. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is an extreme film that will absolutely not be to many people’s tastes due to the sheer grimness of the subject matter. But for those who like their horror cold, hard and emotionally raw – the film delivers some serious chills.
What's great about it: Its ground breaking

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon [DVD] [2006]
This low budget thriller does a pretty good job of creating a spooky and evil monster that lurks in wait for an unsuspecting victim. Using the serial killer theme in tandem with the macabre, the movie lives up to its title.
