I was excited by this release, as I've been a (somewhat reluctant) fan of the Battlefield series since Vietnam and of course, because I'm a Star Wars fan. However, Battlefront has proven to be a massive disappointment.
Neither expecting a game like Battlefield or a direct reboot of the old Battlefront series, I went into this game with open eyes and an open heart. I didn't expect to have my heart broken as bad as I have. This is by far the worst release by EA/Dice to date. And whereas the previous releases have at least shown some support, Battlefront appears to have shut down EA's support group; either due to the shear number of refunds they have had to process, or because they refuse to provide any support for the release as of yet.
The game is rotten with issues, ranging from the simply aggravating to game breaking. The weapons are few and mediocre at best, along with poor design and balancing of each. The sound randomly drops out until you restart the game. The Ultra settings don't seem to do anything at all compared to the lower settings, so doubt those are even activated. The "solo mode" missions stall and glitch out for minutes after you've started them. There are numerous hacks that have been used since release and it's only getting worse. The lobby system they have in place instead of Battlefield's server system is already seeing issues from the lack of player support for the mess of modes available. I could go on.
And of course, I realize that many issues will be fixed eventually, and others may pop up. But I have to take a stance on the issue and say that these issues should have been fixed during EA/Dice's so called "beta". But instead of an actual "beta", where they find and fix issues before the release, they used it to get everyone excited and invested, with the promise that the problem will be fixed before the release.
And now for the pros... the game looks pretty and it's Star Wars. That's about it.
And now let's talk about Best Buy for a moment. I purchase games at a physical store because I support physical media for many reasons I won't bore you with. However, Best Buy's release of this game ended up being nothing more than a digital code for Origin inside a useless plastic case. This was not explicitly stated anywhere on Best Buy's site for preorders, and not even their current box art image was available during the preorder phase. So what the heck, Best Buy? If I wanted to purchase a digital copy, I would have purchased it directly from Origin because they'd actually give me a refund once I found out the game was no where what it should be. However, I'm now stuck with it: Origin states I can't get a refund since I didn't purchase it from them and you state I can't get a refund because I already opened the case. So now I'm stuck with it. Fair enough.
All around, this game has been the single worst purchasing experience I've had. I do not recommend purchasing this game at any cost; but if you really must, don't purchase it from Best Buy.

Disappointment that not actual disk for PC
ByDach
When I preordered and purchased the game I was told was supposed to be a hard disk. What I received was a download only code. Come to find out EA did not make any hard disks available for PC. The only problem I had was that the Best Buy sales person that I talked to said the game would be a disk when it wasn't available. Other than that no different than anywhere else...

Actually, they Dice did make physical versions...

https://imgur.com/Qjmsz4y, but it seems Best Buy didn't sell any of them nor make it explicit that we weren't buying a physical copy of the game.

You MUST install Origin to download and run this!

Very, very disappointed in BB right now. The description on the item at the BB website says DVD ROM, not digital download requiring Origin. I HATE Origin and would not have bought this game if the product description was accurate. There is no way to return these types of products. Been there, done that. BB just says "How do we know you didn't download the game before you brought it in?" Really angry right now. Yes, I am going to play it, and then immediately uninstall it and Origin once I am done.

In all fairness...

You would have had to use Origin anyway, regardless if it was DVD or not. But still, Best Buy did everyone wrong by not stating it was a digital content code on the preorder.
