Ok But Not Necessary

Purchased these along with the Samsung MS 650 sound bar but returned the surround speakers as they reduced the sound quality of the sound bar's clarity, perceived bass response and spatial sound distribution. The surround speakers are inferior to those in the sound bar. The mixture of the sounds therefore reduces the ability to perceive the quality of the sound bar.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Improve your audio experience with this Samsung three-channel soundbar. This unit, which has a built-in subwoofer, channels high-resolution full-spectrum sound and eliminates the need for an extra bass speaker. Use 4K pass-through to connect your Blu-ray player or other UHD device to the Samsung three-channel soundbar for stunning multi-channel audio and a clear picture.

Really Good- No Need for Optional Surround Sound
on May 22, 2017

Bought this MS 650 sound bar due to its built in subwoofer. Also purchased the optional 9000S surround sound speakers. The "system" produced very good ambient sound with clear sound moving around the room. However I kept wanting more bass and better clarity. Then I disconnected the surround sound speakers and voila: The 650 sound bar sounded cleaner, clearer, with more bass and excellent sound dispersion. I quickly realized that for me the lesser quality surround speakers were interfering and muddying the clarity and bass from the sound bar. So I returned the 9000S and saved $129.95. Still thinking about the soon to be released sub woofer but once again wonder about it overpowering the sound bar.
In short.this is an excellent sound bar that will produce clear, full spectrum sound with reasonable bass.with excellent spatial sound characteristics.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Follow Up Review Optional Surround Speeakers 9000s
June 2, 2017
The optional surround sound speakers certainly redistribute the spatial sound characteristics of the sound bar. However, I find the MS 650 sound bar produces clearer cleaner sound on its own with excellent spatial sound distribution and good base response. The optional surround speakers are quite good but not as good as the soundbar speakers. Thus the blending of the two tends to reduce clarity and perceived bass response from the sound bar. The trade off is reduced sound bar clarity. So the addition of the surround speakers creates a more traditional surround sound experience. But for real purity and clarity of sound combined great spatial sound distribution the sound bar alone is all that is needed. The built in subwoofer will produce all the base you could ever expect PROVIDED THE AUDIO SOURCE IS DOLBY OR HIGHER and contains significant base elements. The soundbar is only as good as the audio input source. In short the optional 9000s speakers will create a true surround sound sound but there needs to be a way to fade the strength /volume relative to the main driver soundbar. Being able to adjust the mix between the sound bar and optional speakers might solve the blending problem discussed above.

Will these connect to my Samsung uhdtv? Without an additional sound bar?.

I'm doubt it. The sound bar connects to the surround speakers by way of a wireless dongle that plugs INTO THE SOUND BAR. There appears no way to connect the Samsung TV to the optional surround speakers. The rear speakers appear to operate off the soundbar.

are these speakers compatible with HW-K650/za ?

Yes. They are designed to complement the 650. However I found the surround speakers to be unnecessary and even to reduce the clarity, bass and spatial sound distribution of the the 650. The surround speakers are inferior to t sound bar so mixing the two tends to sonically blur the qualities of the sound bar. I returned them.
