Like the Machine - LENOVO SUPPORT IS SADLY LACKING

Purchased the machine from Best Buy just before Christmas 2015. Not for gaming but as a business machine. Appearance is very impressive. Case is slippery, fingerprints easily and is somewhat difficult to grip. Performs up to specs but needed more RAM (additional 8 Gb) to run the stock market programs (3) used daily & simultaneously (Acceptable and not unexpected). Charge cord is pitifully short. Fortunately my old HP charge cord interfaced with the Lenovo charger pack and provided a reasonable length. The lid is a little challenging to open as there is no recessed area in which to place a finger but with a little effort (and a fingernail...if you have one) you can manage. Best Buy includes the Touch Screen and a USB optical disk as part of their package (very handy). The screen clarity and color are impressive. There have been reports of the preceding model running hot. This model runs super cool and doesn't even get warm. Lenovo got that right. In fairness I run high CPU usage and use most of the RAM but don't do any gaming. Plenty of handy external ports and features. The sound is crazy good for a laptop...nice sound.
The value of Lenovo's on board software is questionable, insofar as practicality is concerned, but probably more useful than most of the junk included with other brands.
The keyboard lighting is impressive and really jazzes up the appearance, particularly under subdued lighting. All in all I like the machine but have this nagging problem with the keyboard. For the first month I questioned whether the problem was real or imagined as none of the irregularities were consistent. Example: Sometimes the left shift key works and sometimes it doesn't. More often than not, the first character entered into a Username or Password never appears. Regularly it's necessary to enter it two or three times before it's visible on screen. It's not unusual to get two of the same characters on screen when a key is pressed normally. The number pad is something else. Example: With the Numlock key inactive (the number pad is off) depressing the "End" key gets you the number 1. Pressing the "Down Arrow" key causes the curser to go the to the "End" of the last character, ie… what the “End” key is supposed to do. The "Home" key works almost all the time
What this led to was a call to Lenovo tech support. They do a lot to discourage one from calling...ie.. sending you to their web site, trying to get one to arrange for a "Call Back" etc., anything except answer the phone. I persevered and the penalty was to be connected to a person of unknown nationality who I challenge any English speaking person to understand. So difficult was the language barrier that I asked her several times to "Spell" what she was attempting to say. I was put on hold, while apparently, she relayed the problem to a technician and then gave me the decision. Bottom line, they wanted me to send this new machine to a repair facility to try to figure out the problem. I informed her this was unacceptable as this machine is an integral part of my work day and I spend 12 to 15 hours, five days a week using it. Their answer was either it gets sent to one of their repair facilities or they can't help. Wouldn’t let me speak to a Tech. Spent $1100 and they won’t even let me talk with a Tech? GREAT SUPPORT!!! Never been treated like that in the past and I have owned many many machines since the first IBM-PC came out in late 1981.So...my assessment is good and bad. I believe I've been fair and 100% truthful Hope this helps with your decision. FYI, Lenovo refused to publish this review. Said to submit a new one.

If I add more RAM, the guarantee is lost?
Don't think so unless you would configure it with more than the 16 Gb the manufacturer states is maximum. They sell it with 8 Gb or 16Gb. You can build this machine. Check their web site

Brand new mine booted in about 8 seconds. Six weeks in and with some heavy software, it now takes about 30-40 seconds for complete boot.

just wondering so i can upgrade myself, im guessing its the DDR4 2133? hope so anyways lol
Two slots of 4Gb each. DDR4--2133. FYI Crucial says they have successfully ran 16Gb x 2 for 32Gb with their super fast RAM set, even though Lenovo says 16 Gb is the max. The Crucial tech says they guarantee their claim
