Jack Logan is an unheralded singer-songwriter that usually records his songs at his house with a group of his musician friends. This album is another solid selection of songs of about lost love, small town secrets and desires that are filled with wit and subtle melodies. Nothing earth shattering here just good old fashioned casual homemade rock and roll.

This is a good but not great Paul Simon album. My favorite songs on the album are the title cut, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, and My Little Town, which features the vocals of former partner Art Garfunkel.

54-40 is a Canadian rock band from the Eighties. They used to get compared to R.E.M. a lot back then but it was probably more due to critics being lazy than what they really sounded like. "I Go Blind" is their song but it best known because of the cover version done by Hootie and the Blowfish. A good rocking 80's album that has a real nice sound to it unless much of that period's bad homogenized production values.

The main problem with In the Wake of Poseidon is that it is not as groundbreaking as their debut album In the Court of the Crimson King. However this is a solid follow up to that epic album. "Cadence and Cascade" is a very pretty melodic song, "Cat Food" is much more jazz oriented than anything on the 1st album and the title cut would fit perfectly on that album. All in all an album that grows on you with each listen you give it.

Progressive rock is a category that is dominated by British rock bands. Kansas' Leftoverture is one of the best American effort's in this category. Solid musicianship, lyrics that are not too dorky, and strong vocals make this album stand out.
