The Beginning Of A New Sound
on June 22, 2014

This is East Bay Punk Rock at it's finest. Matt Freeman, Tim Armstrong, Jesse Michaels and Dave Mello set out to make a record with a sound that had never been done. Blending the second wave of Ska with Hardcore, Operation Ivy created a sound that would influence and inspire such bands as AFI, Green Day, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Link 80 and The Gadjits. Practically a greatest hits record, stand out tracks: Sound System, The Crowd, Big City, Unity, Officer, Healthy Body, Junkie Running Dry, Freeze Up.
Highly recommend for fans of the above bands as well as Rancid, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front, Rise Against, The Clash, Balck Flag and Pennywise.

The best introduction to 90's punk/third wave ska
on June 21, 2014

Back in August of '95, punk rock was in it's rebirth in pop culture and the third wave of ska had just started to make some noise. This record encompasses everything that was great from both scenes. Tim Armstrong shows he's one of the best songwriters, not just in punk rock but in all of music on this record, while Matt Freeman shows off his amazing bass playing on the opening track "Maxwell Murder" proving to be the best in business. This record is a cover to cover hit list. From Olympia WA. to Old Friend, Daily City Train to Avenues & Alleyways, The 11th Hour to The War's End, plus the singles Time Bomb, Roots Radicals and Ruby Soho. With the cover art paying homage to Minor Threat cover of Complete Discography record. This record truely shows where Rancid's original incarnation, Operation Ivy, could've gone. This is a must have for any music fan.
If you like this record check out: The Clash, Ramones, Bad Religion, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Agnostic Front, H2O, Roger Miret & The Disasters, Bouncing Souls, Sick Of It All, Rise Against, Transplants.
My Best Buy number: 3315318440
What's great about it: An All Time Classic
