Purchased this unit brand new in Oct. 2013 and less than 6 months later it wasn't working properly (not completing the wash cycles, drainage issues, etc...). I called Samsung who arranged for a local service company to come and repair the unit. Over the course of two months the company has been out 4 separate times and it's still not working. Each time, they give you a 5 hour window where you need to be available, as is standard for these types of repair visits.
Service Quick failed to fix the unit on any of the visits, stating that a different part needed to be ordered. Each time a new part would be ordered it would take at least one week to arrive, at which time we would schedule another appt. for installation, and each time, the techs (all different) would have another excuse why this couldn't be fixed. One even told us we had to tear out our cabinets so he could "see the unit"!! This is of course an excessive amount of service visits, so I kept Samsung Executive Customer Relations Dept. updated each step of the way. At the final service appt. when I was told yet again that a part needed to be ordered (min. 2 week lag time for it as well), I called Samsung and requested a replacement unit. If their Samsung trained Service/ Repair techs were unable to fix it after 4 visits, why would I be stupid enough to schedule a 5th and waste my time again?
Certainly this is a logical case for a replacement! I would call Samsung ECR daily for an answer or status update, since not one representative was able to give me an accurate estimate on when they would have a resolution for us. After nearly 2 weeks of faxing in copies of all our service reports to different departments, I was able to get someone to tell me our case for replacement was denied since only one company had made an attempt to fix it!! I have a job, and can't sit around the house for weeks so that Samsung can send every Tom, Dick and Harry into my home to fix my lemon unit. I'm sure other consumers in the same situation would feel just as frustrated by Samsung's "process" with this!
When I demanded I was escalated to a senior dept., I was told that Executive Customer Relations was as high as these cases go, and there is no one else we would appeal to. We are now stuck with a non-working dishwasher we spent more than $700 on less than one year ago, that Samsung won't replace because apparently "Nowhere in the product warranty are you guaranteed a replacement unit if the service attempts fail."
BEFORE YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT, THINK TWICE ABOUT WHAT A "SERVICE ONLY" WARRANTY ACTUALLY GETS YOU.
What's not so great: Got a lemon unit and Samsung won't replace it though it's still in warranty!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
