Decent Compromise between Protection and Size
on December 23, 2016

I purchased the ZAGG Folio for my new iPad Pro 9.7". I had previously bought the ZAGG Rugged Book (see my review on that product), but it is way too big, bulky and heavy for day-to-day use unless I was traveling or in rugged conditions. (I kept it for those reasons). The Folio has a great feel in your hand with a leather-like cover that makes gripping it easier than most cases. As others have noted, the lid does not go back more than 135 degrees or so, so you can't use this to hold your iPad Pro as a tablet unless you remove it. Keyboard, design and feel are quite nice. But the keyboard base is just a little too "light" and can't offset the weight of the iPad itself when opened and pushed back more than 90 degrees. The whole thing falls over! And the openings for the great speaker system of the iPad Pro are poor, keeping most of the sound bottled up. All in all this is a decent compromise between protection and use, with a few things that need fixed in future design runs.

Transform your 9.7-inch iPad Pro with this ZAGG Rugged Book keyboard. It connects to the tablet via Bluetooth, and a versatile magnetic hinge secures it in place at almost any angle to convert it into one of four modes. The powerful battery of this ZAGG Rugged Book keyboard lasts up to 2 years between charges.

Great, protective case just a little heavy/bulky

I purchased a new iPad Pro 9.7" (Verizon) to replace my iPad Air 2. Unfortunately, the Logitech Type+ case for the Air 2 doesn't fit quite right (camera is blocked, for example). With these iPads running over $600, I wanted a good, sturdy keyboard case. I chose the Zagg Rugged Book Pro for several reasons. First, an excellent backlit keyboard. Second, dedicated place to hold the Apple Pen. Third, durable and rugged construction which should help protect my new iPad Pro. Fourth, the design of the outer case gives a good gripping area, which means I am less likely to drop it. Many other keyboard cases are smooth finished and, while they look nice, easily slip out of your hands when carrying. I would have given this a "5" star rating except that the case is a bit bulkier and heavier than I prefer. Also, there is no automatic on/off when you open or close the keyboard case. I'll adjust to the larger, heavier keyboard case in time. If you need a very protective keyboard case, look seriously at the Zagg RuggedBook Pro.

Update
December 23, 2016
I reviewed my purchase of the Rugged Book for iPad Pro 9.7" previously. Now, having it around a while, I would emphasize the concern I had about weight and bulk. If I was traveling frequently and carrying this in a laptop bag or briefcase, I'd use this case for its sheer protection. Nothing else I have seen comes close that also have a keyboard. But for day to day use, this is not practical for ME. It totally obliterates the thin and lightweight design of the iPad Pro 9.7" So, while I give it a "5" for protection, I'd caution that if you want lightweight and sleek, this case is NOT for you. I'll keep it for those occasions when I travel or are outdoors in rugged conditions, but I'll use a different case for day-to-day.

Take notes on the go with this Belkin Ultimate Pro F5L176TTBLK case for Apple iPad Air 2, which features a full backlit keyboard and Bluetooth Smart technology, so you can pair 2 devices at once. Aluminum-alloy material delivers a durable design.

Belkin reported: There's no hole for the front camera since the display of the iPad Air 2 will not be covered by the case. ..... does that mean you cannot do Facetime?

You can do Facetime. You would need to open the cover to use the iPad, so doing that means nothing is in the way of the camera facing the user.

Is there different colors?

Only comes in black (dark gray?) at the present time.

Is the Keyboard Detachable?

No. Keyboard bottom and iPad top are permanently affixed by the case hinge. The ZAGG Rugged Book does allow you to detach the keyboard and top (held together by strong magnets). If you don't need the keyboard, get a good cover.

Protect your iPad Pro from damage with this OtterBox Defender Series case. It's made with multiple layers of plastic and rubber for extreme drop protection, and port covers keep dust and debris out for better connections. This OtterBox Defender Series case includes a screen protector that guards against scrapes and scratches without dulling your touch screen.

Can the built in screen protector be removed so it can be replaced with a glass one? If so, how difficult is it to pop out?

I think the answer to this is yes. Go to the Otterbox (or whatever manufacturers) website and check out the case you are interested in. Should say if protective screen can be removed. When I bought my Otterbox case for my Galazy S7, I was able to remove the clear plastic protector without damaging the rest of the case.
