Good, but not $150 good.

I paid for two of these.
I purchased the first one to replace my wired XB360 PC controller for FPshooters. Yes, I'm a PC controller noob; I can't break bad habits.
My other controller came with my elite XB1.
The USB cable connection could be a weak point. It is one knock on a desk or table away from breaking off. I wish there was a counterbore on the controller to accept the micro USB housing to resist sheer loading.
There is plenty of USB cable which is a plus.
The trigger pulls are adjustable, but the short pull is not a hair trigger. I like the long trigger pull for throttle control in racing games. However, for FPS, the short trigger pull is still too long. I use the bumpers for ADS and fire, just like I did on the xb360 controller. If you're going to advertise hair triggers, it should be as fast or faster than the bumpers. Again, this controller does not have hair triggers.
I wish there was a physical off switch. If you unplug it from a PC it continues to search for a wireless for a short period of time. If you play XB1 games that do not require a controller (Rocksmith), it stays on unless you turn it off via menus. Let me save energy!
The controller has two modes, however, I have not figured out a way to have mode 1 as PC and mode 2 as XB1. If you use the controller for PC via USB it forgets it's life as an XB1 controller under the second mode and forces you to re-sync.
The modular thumb sticks and D pad are well made and well executed if you plan on changing them. I did but switched back. The control sticks glide much better than my crumb laden XB360 controller.
The modular magnetic paddles are great, but don't set your controller down on your leg unless you want to press (several) random buttons. I use 2 of 4. They are very handy for FPS.
Something about this controller makes my hands sweat significantly more than the XB360 controller. I've never had this problem before. Maybe it is the 150 shekels worth of magnets and electronics between my palms. Gross.
M$ is certainly charging a premium for one of the first customize-able controllers for the XB1. This is $75, maybe $100 territory. Wait for a sale unless you have cash to burn.

Just buy it

Everyone with a DSLR should own this lens. Why?
It's cheap. Compared to even the entry level Nikons, this is a drop in the bucket. Good glass will take your shots to the next level. This should be the kit lens!... but people would gripe about 'walking' and such.
It's light and inconspicuous. You can carry this all day. It feels like you are carrying the body-only. On a smaller body sans battery grip, you are practically in stealth mode with this little thing. Subjects seem to prefer the lower profile.
It's fast and sharp.
Bokeh, f/1.8 is going to let you blow out those backgrounds and isolate your subjects even in low light.
I use this lens on the D5300 DX and D750 FX bodies. If I know I can get away with it, I will throw this on in place of one of my zooms.
Just buy it.
I'm not going to upload images because I'm limited to 5mb... I think my shoots larger file sizes.

This is an extension of my review of the Nikon - D5300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens - Black.
I am a photography enthusiast not a photographer. I've taken just over a thousand shots with this lens, mostly one at a time.
I chose to purchase this lens with the D5300 kit because I wanted something to capture wildlife. I chose this lens over the 55-200mm because I wanted the extra range.
Strengths:
The 55-300mm's range is versatile, well worth the price hike over the 55-200mm.
The VR performs well.
Good portrait performance and bokeh
Weaknesses:
The AF is not terribly fast.
The Manual focus feels crude and seems to jump with minute adjustments.
My images seem to be sharpest up to 270mm. I see a loss in sharpness across the focus options after 270mm with a tripod. This could very well be user error or the camera.
Forget about group shots indoors unless you have a cavernous space.
Does not have a lens mount for a tri/monopod
Rather heavy
Final thoughts:
With all of these weaknesses, why did I give it four stars? This lens offers great performance for the price. I consider this lens a must have if your only other lens is the 18-55mm kit lens. If you are only going shoot distant subjects, this is a solid contender for your only lens.
I highly recommend some form of external stabilization. I use a cheap tri/monopod 90% of the time. As with any zoom lens, tiny motion at the camera body translates to lots of motion at your subject.
If you buy this lens and find a squirrel in your bird feeder... Set up for the shot. Zoom to fill the frame. Throw it off to the side. Boom! Tack-sharp squirrel shot. Happy shooting!

A proper point-and-shoot upgrade

Best Buy: I am reviewing a camera, not a potato. Why am I limited to 5mb per image?
I am a photography enthusiast not a photographer.
I chose this camera over the D3300 because of the additional AF points.
I chose this camera over the D7100 because I wanted to fit better glass in my budget.
I chose this camera over the a6000 because of the lens options and my history with the D5000.
Let's start with the 18-55mm VR lens that comes with the camera. I call it the selfie foodie indoor lens because those are the things I use it for. It is fast but don't expect it to reach out and grab your subject in the real world. Budget for good glass, you are buying a great camera. I purchased a 55-300mm VR lens with the camera. It has not disappointed me.
The body fits well in my large hands. It is light and compact compared to full frame cameras. There is not a dedicated ISO button but the function button is defaulted to control ISO. I find this hard to find when I need to make sudden ISO adjustments. I often accidentally hit the flash button. The other buttons are right where I want them. The menu is easy to use but I usually have the screen folded in once the settings are dialed in.
With upgraded glass the D5300 is sometimes slow using all of the autofocus points. To remedy this, the menu option allows you to select a single point or group of points. You will certainly want to do this if you are shooting anything that moves.
The auto mode tends to be all over the place. It will take good photos but if you want great photos plan to switch to manual or one of the priority settings.
The live view is slow. I don't use it.
I still have not found a setting to prevent the flash from popping up. I need to find this soon.
GPS and Wifi are neat features but I do not use them. I rather save the battery and note where I took the photos using a pen and pad of paper.
As a weekend warrior, I have not had the best luck with outdoor action shots in low light with the 55-300mm. Working with my aperture limitations, I either have to sacrifice shutter speed or ISO. I prefer to the latter but higher ISO settings will lead to noisy shots and subsequent editing time.
This camera shines in good lighting conditions or with stationary objects.
If you are a weekend warrior you will love this camera. If you are looking to push the limits you might want to save for a full body DSLR.
Like all things, practice leads to improvement. Happy shooting!

The Vacuum That Can!

I decided to get this vacuum because it had good reviews and it was cheap.
When I moved into my new to me house, this vacuum pulled three containers of cat hair out of the small living room. This is after I vacuumed the entire house with my Shop-Vac.
Fast forward, I am in the middle of remodeling a bathroom and my Shop-Vac goes belly up. Like a typical man, I grab the household vacuum from the closet. It took a little longer but got the job done sucking up all of the nasties. She did ask why there was a nail in the container the next time she vacuumed. Busted!
There are a few parts to it that feel cheap, but for the price, I cannot complain too much.
Finally, the self winding cord feature is a big time saver. Press a button and it sucks the cord back in. (see what I did there) Say for example, it takes a minute to wind a cord by hand. If you vacuum once a week for a year, you have saved almost an hour of your life NOT winding a cord.
I have terrible allergies and the filter was another selling point. I no longer feel terrible after vacuuming because the filter does its job.
Do yourself and your wallet a favor. Skip the expensive, big name vacuum and get this one. Chances are you will be surprised.

What's great about it: Suction, pet hair removal, spring loaded cord, attachments, long cord
What's not so great: Small capacity, some parts feel cheap
