MacBook delivers more performance in the lightest and thinnest Mac notebook ever. With new seventh-generation Intel Core processors, 12-inch Retina display,¹ a full-size keyboard, force-sensing trackpad, versatile USB-C port, and all-day battery life,º MacBook features big thinking in an impossibly compact form.

Impossibly thin, unendingly portable
on July 23, 2017

If you have not held the new MacBook in hand, it is almost impossible to think how a computer can be so light and so thin. In some ways, it almost seems like an iPad with a clamshell keyboard attached to it. To make space for the small form factor, many 'normal' features had to be removed: no CD drive, no USB ports (save for the USB-C charging port) and no HDMI port. This computer was truly designed to be ultra portable and is not peripheral feature heavy. While I was looking for a computer that is easy to tote around, this could be a reason to consider a different model for some users.
Since I was switching from a MacBook Pro, I found that the keys (like the new Magic keyboard) are more shallow and take some getting used to. This makes for a small learning curve, but overall it is a non-issue.
The loss of some factors of convenience (no USB drive, etc) are more than balanced with the impossibly thin design of the new MacBook. It almost seems ridiculous when you look at other larger laptops after using this computer. Keep in mind, if you don't already have one you will need a bluetooth mouse, etc to get the job done. More than just a cosmetic choice for the MacBook is the aluminum shell. I opted for the gold finish, which looks stunning. Since the laptop is so light and thin, the aluminum makes it feel like the construction is sturdy and not flimsy. Overall I am very happy with the computer. I would urge that anyone considering the device thinks long and hard about the need to use peripherals and if they can live without USB/ HDMI ports and a DVD drive natively built in to their laptop.

The all-new Magic Keyboard has been enhanced to deliver more comfort and functionality than ever before. It includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that charges fast, lasts about amonth or more between charges, and eliminates the need for disposable batteries. With the included Lightning to USB cable, you can charge your device and automatically pair it with any Mac.

Pros and cons but still excellent

This keyboard is not perfect. I purchased it online, but did not opt for the English keyboard as I needed the German version. You'd think because the keyboard is advertised as "magic" that it would really surpass all expectations. However, in the simple process of connecting to an iMac, the device was unaware of its own language and mapped all of the keys incorrectly to English. Not something that you would expect from this type of product.
On the bright side, this keyboard has been excellent. It is rechargeable with a lightning cable and probably only loses 1-2% battery capacity per week with heavy use. It rarely ever needs to be charged. At first I hated the shallow keys as I found that it was easier to make mistakes when compared to a standard keyboard. After one day of using the device however I truly prefer the key depth.
Lastly, the style and small form factor (albeit subjective) are a huge factor in why I like this keyboard. It is so small and thin that it can easily be locked with the lock button and thrown into a bag. It is virtually weightless, yet I have never had an issue with it sliding on the desk surface. As it is made from aluminum, one would assume that it is durable and might last quite some time if taken care of.
The device also works with AppleTV, which is great except the Siri remote pretty much negates the need for a bluetooth keyboard. Still, the range of the device is such that it works flawlessly.

The new Apple TV delivers an all-new experience with Touch andSiri, powerful new hardware, and great content, games, and more on the App Store. The Touch surface on the new Siri Remote offers innovative ways to interact with your TV, creating a connected experience with a screen that's across the room. With Siri, finding something to watch is as easy as just asking. And with apps, Apple TV allows you to customize your TV for personal and shared experiences in the living room.

Easy to use, easy to access, top quality

Sure, $149 to $200 is alot to pay for an online streaming device these days, so there must be a reason to still give the Apple TV 5 stars. Here are some highlights:
1) Siri remote is easy to use, and makes the whole user experience better. I was skeptical that I would use the voice function at all, since Siri on my phone never seems to get it right. When searching on the Apple TV however, I love that it recognizes almost every request on the first try. Maybe Siri has improved over the years. The controller requires no batteries and charges with a standard iPhone charger too, which cuts down on annoyance and inconvenience.
2) The TV app. While totally useless on the iPhone, the TV app really makes the whole user experience of the Apple TV better. Search for a show and it will show each and every platform/ app that the show can be watched from. For example, searching for a Movie will give the option open in iTunes, or if the movie is currently available on Hulu or Netflix it will tell you so you can watch it with your subscription. Pretty convenient to unify all of the various media apps.
3) One log in. Nothing is more annoying than entering a password to each and every app. Logging in once with your cable provider will instead unlock all of the apps and services that are included with your plan. This makes everything super convenient because you don't need to log into HGTV, CBS, etc individually.

Meet the Nest Cam Outdoor security camera (2 pack). It stands watch 24/7, rain or shine. Plugs into power so you never have to worry about dead batteries. And sends an alert to your phone when it detects activity. It even lets you talk back through the Nest app. This is what an outdoor security camera should be.

Buyer Beware: Requires monthly plan
By ConnieB
If you think you are going to have live surveillance without purchasing the monthly surveillance plan, then think again. What you actually get is a snap shot of some activity that gives you very little information. For instance, you will get a snapshot of a car that enters the activity zone but it will NOT provide any other activity that happens after the initial snapshot. You won't know if someone exited the car and/or breached your zone without purchasing a plan.

With all due respect the need for a subscription is made pretty clear from the get go. I do agree that it seems expensive since the hardware is already expensive, but uploading, processing and storing 1080p video 24/7 for a year has its cost.
