Front LCD water damage

We purchased this GoPro 5 blk last Friday, used it 3 times for snorkeling with kids on a cruise trip, by the 5th day the camera wouldn't turn on, back status red light will remain on, but camera would no turn on, we tried everything to troubleshoot. Also we noticed that the front Gray LCD had water inside it. All doors were tightly closed, no water leaked thru doors.
7 days after purchase, the same same day we arrived from our trip I took the camera to bestbuy and I was offered a replacement, I declined the GoPro 5 and took a 4 black instead, with the water protection case.
The weird this is that 2 other people onboard the ship had similar water issues, even though the camera is rated to 33 feet of depth.
