There are some horror movies that are so bad they're good, but I'm not sure this film ever descends to those less-than-lofty depths. While the notion of zombie beavers is at fresh (so to speak), this one plays out a bit like a student film with a little extra money. Most of the young actors are not all that accomplished, and the script really is not fantastic. In fact, the dialogue often seems to be no more than a series of thinly veiled excuses for bad beaver puns. As for the title creatures themselves, they remind one of the bad old eighties puppet monsters that were capable of limited motion at best. I just kept waiting to see somebody hands just out of frame operating them. This movie is so inept that even the subtitles are misspelled. Give it a miss.

There's no shortage of post-apocalyptic science fiction out there today, but the low-budget Australian film These Final Hours is a bit different. When the film starts, the clock is already ticking for the end of the world, but the film's protagonist, who is ready to get back and finish out his final hours high on drugs and alcohol, ends up instead helping a young girl separated from her family to get reunited. What starts off as a fairly two-dimensional story ends up showing a surprising amount of heart. A very pleasant surprise indeed.
This release collects every episode from season two of the popular Netflix original series about Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a classy woman in her thirties who is sentenced to prison after being convicted of a ten-year-old crime of trafficking money for her drug-dealer girlfriend.

If you liked the first season of Netflix's drama-comedy (or comedy-drama, whichever you prefer) you will almost certainly enjoy the second season, now available on home video. The producers have built on what really worked in season one and expanded on those elements in subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) ways. Definitely worth seeing.
