I've used these headphones for almost two years, and overall am very impressed. The sound quality is very good, although you'll want to invest in Comply Foam ear buds (the included silicone buds are sub-par in my opinion). From a utility standpoint, these headphones are near perfect. You get vibration alerts for incoming calls (and when out-of-range, unfortunately), and the button placement (play/pause, accept calls, hail Siri/Google Now, volume control, etc) make it very easy to use. Like many other reviews, lack of range is my biggest complaint.
Fit for your life, BeatsX earphones are the perfect wireless companion. Experience authentic, clear sound throughout your day with up to 8 hours of battery life. With Fast Fuel, a 5-minute charge gives you 2 hours of playback. Its unique Flex-Form cable provides all-day comfort and easy pocket portability, while eartip options provide a personalized fit and secure-fit wingtips offer added stability.
I tried these for about a week (purchasing on launch day) and really wanted to love these Beats X, but ultimately returned. I was looking for a replacement for my LG HBS-810 Ultra (horseshoe style), which was serviceable but I was excited by the features of the Beats X.
While I appreciated some of the features (lightning cable charging, comfortable fit, extended bluetooth range aided by W1 chip), the sound quality (which was only incrementally better than my LG 810) just didn't justify the $149 price tag.
Being used to the horseshoe style retractable buds of my LG 810, the necklace style fit of the Beats X felt very awkward, as was the performance of the inline volume controller / microphone. The power button is very small and hard to use while wearing. The morse code-style inputs required to the center remote button in order to skip/fast forward songs was also very confusing and not at all user friendly. I untimately went with the Jaybird X3 (which has superior sound quality despite the proprietary charging system) to replace my LG 810.
Enjoy up to 8 hours of listening with these Jaybird X3 wireless earphones. Their Bluetooth connectivity syncs with the MySound app to create custom sound profiles, and they're sweat-proof for use during intense workouts. These Jaybird X3 wireless earphones are 34 percent smaller than the previous X2 model for comfort even under a helmet.
I was looking for a replacement for my horseshoe-style LG 810 Ultra headphones, which were serviceable but wanted something new & improved. I initially shyed away from the Jaybird X3 due to the proprietary charging system, but I regret my delay. I even waited until the eventual rollout of the Beats X, which I ultimately returned because the sound quality was only incrementally better than my LG 810s (and didn't care for the necklace style fit), and couldn't justify the $149 price tag.
The sound quality of the X3s surpasses any other bluetooth earbuds I've ever heard. Customizing an optimal fit takes some trial, error, and patience, but the X3s include enough options (3 sizes of fins, 3 sizes of both silicone and Comply Foam tips) to eventually give you an optimal fit.
The MySound app provides the ability to customize the sound signature of the headphones, with plenty of pre-set options by fellow app users.
I use these with a full face motorcycle helment for my daily 50-mile round trip commute, and they effectively drown out wind noise. I am very happy with these headphones, and would recommend to all.
