Classic Example of a Fantasy Film
on October 19, 2007
Posted by: BAndrews
This is wonderful example of a film that is pure fantasy. It doesn't rely on gratuitous violence or language to draw in the older crowds. It's your hero saving the damsel in distress type film which I absolutely love. This collector's DVD was realized about 10 years after the movie first came out, so having many retrospective features were a perfect touch to this DVD. The best feature on the DVD is the never before seen uncut version. I thought the original version was good, but the uncut version was even better. Certain scenes are made longer and the ending is changed a bit, but its all for the better. The original music score is returned, which makes me glad since it is much more fitting than the original pop music score. On this DVD, you can even chose to isolate the music score, so that you can listen to just the music of the film. You get a behind the scenes feature for every creative and technical creative aspect of this film. Interviews, deleted scenes, behind the scenes features, you name it, it's all on this fabulous DVD.
What's great about it: classic fantasy storytelling, great retrospectives
What's not so great: none

Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include deleted footage, a making-of featurette concerning the development of the animation, a music video, and a trailer. Those with access to a DVD-ROM drive will be able to take a look at even more bonus materials. This disc will please fans of the series, and may actually win the show some new converts.

The Movie It was Meant to Be
on October 17, 2007

Based on the preceeding tv show, this is the version that the creators originally meant this film to be. This dvd features a restored version of the film, and features many scenes that were altered from the first version. It also includes many scenes that were deleted altogether. If you compare this to the original version, you'll realize how different this film is without these crucial scenes. Having these scenes put back into the film makes this a better movie, as it makes the characters and events in the movie more consistent. Some critics say it's a little dark, but it's really not. It fits perfectly with the tv show, and makes a great finale to the series. The commentary on the dvd is done by the same animation team who love to put a lot of inside jokes into the film, and just know how to have a lot of fun with this project. If you are a Batman fan and want a true version of this movie, the un-cut version is a must have.
What's great about it: non-stop action, exciting characters, great extras
What's not so great: none

Celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with Jim Davis' feline creation, Garfield, with this DVD that contains three television specials featuring the fat cat. Each is presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. English and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. Subtitles are accessible in both of these languages as well. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence.

Perfect Way to Celebrate the Holidays
on October 16, 2007

Back in there initial airings, Garfield's holiday specials were something to look forward to each holiday. Since they are no longer broadcasted, having them all in one dvd is a special treat. The Christmas special is my personal favorite, and is the most touching and sentimental of all the specials. Garfield appeal to both grownups and kids, and so everyone will have something to laugh about here. The characters are unforgetable (who can't help but love Grandma or Binky the Clown!), as are all the misadventures that Garfield finds himself in. Unfortunately there are no bonus features that may provide any behind the scene glimpses, but the lack of bonus features does make the dvd come at a cheaper price. Having three holiday themed specials all on one dvd for such a cheap price makes it such a great buy for the animation lover in everyone!
What's great about it: fits perfect with the seasons, great entertainment!
What's not so great: no bonus features

Buena Vista Home Entertainment spared no expense or extra in the double-disc DVD creation of the animated, Oscar-winning Spirited Away. The remarkable aspect of these special features is how educational they are, providing much insight into this award-winning Japanese film. To begin, Spirited Away is presented in flawless 2.0:1 widescreen, enabling the richness of the animation to explode onscreen. The sound, presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 English and Japanese Surround, is flawless. A French Dolby Digital 2.0 track is also included. The featurette, "The Art of Spirited Away," is a must-see. It offers insight into the interpretation of the quite-symbolic film as well as stories about the trials and tribulations encountered during the translation process. Other extras include a feature on the dubbing process, a lengthy and star-packed Nippon Television documentary special on the film and how its key players worked to create the final product, a storyboard-to-scene comparison and 30 minutes of Japanese trailers for the movie.

A Grand Fairytale Experience
on October 14, 2007

Spirited Away is a wonderful film that takes you and makes you believe you are in this incredible fantasy world. The backgrounds in this movie are breathtakingly beautiful, full of subtle details that make it seem somehow lifelike. Storytelling like this just doesn't get any more original or heartfelt. I like how this dvd comes with both the Japanese and English versions, so that you can see the differences in the actor's performances. My personal favorite is the featurette showing how they go about dubbing this version for the US. There are some parts that may be scary for younger viewers that may surprise parents, but the older kids should be able to handle it just fine. All in all, a great movie for everyone to enjoy.
What's great about it: fabulous artistry, fantastic acting, great storytelling
What's not so great: may not be suitable for younger viewers

About Time

Never before, have I been so ecstatic to learn that one of my favorite childhood shows has arrived on dvd. Pinky and the Brain is one of those rare cartoon series, that don't cater to kids with gross out humor and adult innuendo. Watching it now in my adult years has given me a greater appreciation for this show. It is comical, it is smartly written, and it has a broad appeal to be certain. The features on this dvd are very much interesting to the adult obessessed cartoon collector who enjoy seeing the work that went into this masterful creation. I am pleased to find that Pinky and the Brain has stood the test of time, at least in my eyes!
What's great about it: fun nastalgic childhood fun

Awesome Product

I received this phone as a gift to replace my outdated cell phone. I was amazed by how many things this phone could do for being part of a prepaid service. There are many useful features, and they are easy to operate. I enjoy being able to take quick pictures and check my e-mail using this phone. Downloading ringtones and games are easy to do, and there are a variety of items to choose from. I am also pleased with just how much you can customize your phone to suit your own personality. Of course, the layout of the phone makes making and receiving calls just as convenient as can be. Overall, I am more then satisfied with the quality of my phone!
What's great about it: easy to use, many features, does what it needs to
