I purchased this to hook my Directv HD box up to a 21" computer monitor for the kids playroom. It was easy to use just plugged right into the HDMI port and i used the DVI cable that came with the monitor to hook to the monitor. it was simple plug and play. Now I bought RCA computer speakers and hooked it straight to the Directv box and presto full system for $50.00 using a monitor that I already had just sitting in a box not being used.

I need help in finding the correct cable wire for our TV.

We have an RCA flat screen. Looking for an 18AWT digital satellite cable. Here's other markings on the existing cable - RG/6, CATV, 2300 MhZ, CATV/CL2

Any ideas how to find this wire and what to search under?

that is generic sat cable. RG/6 cable should just be your standard coax (the screw on type) cable.

will RF-G1173 convert HDMI to DVI? or is it only one way DVI to HDMI?

this is actually used to go from HDMI to a DVI source unless you are using it to plug a computer to a TV where the HDMI port is receiving the image.

Why would this stop working after about an hour's use?

I would check your settings for the video it may be running at a resolution your monitor doesn't support.

does dvi provide video only or video and audio?

video only.... you can use RCA (red and white cables) for your audio.

Does this work on Mac or Pc?

it does not matter which system you use.... its the ports DVI and HDMI one male one female end.

Can this connect an Xbox, to a DVI Monitor?

Can this connect an Xbox, to a DVI Monitor? If so/not how can I hook my Xbox up to my Acer monitor. I only have DVI and VGA hookups, not hdmi.

yes it can this adapter plugs into the HDMI port for the XBOX then use a DVI cable to the monitor. you will still need to use RCA for the sound though... you can use computer speakers as long as the have a place for RCA audio (red and white plugs)

Will this give me audio and sound if connecting my older tv with new blu ray player?

I have an older tv with a dvi output and just received a new blu ray player with only an hdmi connection. Can I use this device to connect my tv and blu ray and will i get both video and audio? If not, what can I use?

this is only good for video it does not produce audio. use a simple rca set of cables for the audio they are the red and white ones.
