It's not always the biggest, brawniest guy that ends up winning. Captain Toad may be small and he may not be able to jump very high or run fast, but what he lacks in sheer strength and size he more than makes up for in intelligence and perception. Embark on a solo adventure as the brave Captain Toad in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Arrayed with only a neck scarf, backpack and oversize head lamp, you'll have to primarily rely on your resources of wit and perspective to make it through a dangerous world brimming with treacherous enemies, puzzles, traps and secrets. Are you ready to set off on a mind-bending adventure filled with hidden threats?Captain Toad Treasure Tracker plants you in a world comprised of a wide variety of tricky, enemy-infested, maze-like stages where your main prerogative is to survive while you find hidden items and eventually nab the elusive gold star at the end of each stage. Each stage is its own puzzle that must be solved — all while collecting hidden items that are littered throughout in hard-to-reach places, such as gems, coins and powerups. Unveil secret locations and get a closer look at secluded dangers by using your Wii U GamePad's gyro controls to peer around. Do you have the necessary smarts to survive a profusion of puzzles, a ton of traps, plenty of platforms and an abundance of attackers? Survive each stage's secrets and seize the stars in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.

one of the cutest games ever

this game is SO CUTE. i heard about it a while back but wasn't sure if i would be able to handle it as i cannot handle a lot of 3D games. however when i played the 'super mario 3d world' for wii u, the 3D in that game was bearable and didnt give me a headache - and the captain toad levels in there were cute and fun - so i decided to invest in this. and i'm so glad i did! there was a good variety of levels. you get to play as both toad and toadette too! most of the levels are not too difficult but there are some pretty difficult ones (i am currently stuck on the very last one of the bonus which is long and a bit crazy). note that you can only use the wii u gamepad to play as there is quite a lot of touch screen use, and diff ways of manipulating the camera using the different buttons on the gamepad.
i would def recommend, i think both kids and adults (if you're a fan of the mario games in general) could enjoy this one. if you're a fan of cute - as i am - it is super super cute and that's an added bonus :)

For the first time ever, two of the gaming world's biggest, most prestigious sleuths team up to solve the most challenging mystery they've ever witnessed in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Combining the mind-bending puzzles of the Professor Layton series with the intense courtroom drama of the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright delivers an intellectual adventure that unites two very different styles of gameplay.Travel from London to the mystical city of Labyrinthia alongside Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright as they work together to help Espella Cantabella — a girl accused of witchcraft. Figure out puzzles and crack codes in Adventure mode as Professor Layton, and then cross-examine key witnesses in Trial mode as Phoenix Wright. Stay on your toes during group cross-examinations, where Phoenix pits one person's testimony against another's to help reveal the truth. The game's musical score combines the vibrant sounds from the Professor Layton series with the sensational, climactic themes from the Phoenix Wright series to create a moving, exciting soundscape. Rewrite history with the help of the city's greatest mystery-busting duo in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

So good I wish there were a sequel...

I am a HUGE Ace Attorney and Professor Layton fan. When I heard about this game, I was soooooo excited, but I didn't own a 3DS yet (as 3D makes me dizzy/nauseous sometimes). I finally caved and got a new console since it's possible play all of the games in 2D - and one of the reasons was to play this game.
I was NOT disappointed. Just wish it could've been longer, and that there were more courtroom scenes, I do think these were the best part of the game. The puzzles were ok - though they felt way easier than in a normal Layton game. There were only a few difficult ones I think. But I LOVED when the protagonists from both games met each other, and worked together - on puzzles and in the court. Seriously, it made me so happy and I was really sad when I finished the game and all of the extras.
The voice acting was ok... I tend to prefer Japanese voice actors in anime, and I guess I felt the same about this game. Sometimes the way they talked was too exaggerated, but I suppose that's how voice acting is. Also, it was weird to hear a different Luke for me (it's Luke from the UK versions of the Prof Layton games, not the Luke from the North America versions).
I liked some improvements in this game, like how they told you how many hidden puzzles/hint coins there were in each area, and the pointer would look different hovering over a hint coin than something else. The Prof Layton games - especially earliest ones - had hint coins everywhere and so I would be clicking all over the place to find nothing.
As with all Ace Attorney games, they introduced some new aspects to the court as far as presenting evidence and cross examining, and they definitely didn't disappoint.

Amazing console!

I got this as an upgrade from my DSi (yes, I am quite late to the party!) - I never wanted to play games in 3D before because 3D makes me dizzy and sometimes nauseous. However there were some 3DS games that I have wanted to play really badly even if just in 2D, so I finally caved and decided to get this. At first when I was still debating whether to get the new console, my biggest concern is that the regular size was not released in the USA - I wanted something lighter and closer in size to the DSi. plus the face plates looked cool (though I guess wouldn't be as popular here than in Japan). But I didn't want to wait and see if the regular size MIGHT get released, plus I figured I might like the bigger screen size.
My first impression was - as expected - that the console was heavy. Of course it is compared to the DSi which is tiny. But after playing it for a few weeks, I'm TOTALLY used to it now - doesn't feel heavy at all, and I LOVE the bigger screen size. The controls are great as normal. And the games are amazing. They load very quickly (I never experienced how they loaded on the original 3DS or 3DS XL so I can't really compare) and I HAVE tried the 3D a few times and it's pretty awesome. It doesn't make me as dizzy as I thought - but I don't play with 3D too long. The battery life is much lower when you play in 3D.
The one downside is that I don't think the battery life is anywhere as good as my DSi (even when I play only in 2D mode). But maybe that's from the bigger screen size/etc. I haven't tried switching out the SD card yet.
