Like the other reviewers, I too remember watching this movie as a kid. When I found it had been released onto DVD, I was ecstatic and rightfully so. It's been over 19 years since this movie was first released and yet it still delivers the laughs every time. Unlike other comedies, this movie never moves into the raunchy and crude humor so often seen today. It is rated PG and the description says there is brief nudity, although I can't think of a single scene that fits that description. My 8 year old will probably have a hard time with it when (eeewww!) the boys kiss the girls, but the rest will be great! Bill Murray's talent shines through on this, his first starring role in a movie. The extras include the making of the movie with great tidbits you don't want to miss and audio commentary by Ivan Reitman and Dan Goldberg. It's interesting to note that while the movie was made in the late 1970's, it doesn't have that "period" feel to it. Clothing and hair styles today are mimicking the '70s styles so they fit right in. The beauty of summer camp is that it seems to be the same today as it did 20 years ago so it's easy to feel "nostalgic" with this movie while your kids are watching and laughing because what they're seeing is so true!
What's great about it: A film with huge laughs that still delivers nearly 20 years later!
What's not so great: Too bad Bill Murray wasn't available to comment in the Extras
