So today 02/14 was the release date for this movie along with other fox disc. I picked up this movie and maze runner scorch trials. Anyway despite what other reviewers are saying I'm just going to be honest. This movie looks awesome, it is greatly improved over the mgo uhd Hdr version. The bluray version deosnt even come close. Ignore all the doubters and people whom have never seen this content in action and make the decision for yourself. This movie was an overwhelming experience and a huge improvement over the other versions offered. It will even look great on a non hdr or even a 1080p set downcoverted. See it for yourselves folks it's the best I've ever seen a film presented.

This film was not finished in 4k.

Many recent UHD Bluray titles will be unconverted from 2k masters and won't actually be 4k. This is simply because many recent films shot digitally were not shot at 4k or above resolution but only 2k. Even many films that have been shot on true 4k or even film, only had visual effects and post production done at 2k. Fox Home Entertainment has already admitted that The Martian 4k release is being made from 2k assets.

The Martian does not currently exist in 4k, stick with the 1080p version for now.

Please do your homework before purchasing "4k" Blurays.

if your going to post false information at least know for a fact what your talking about. you and many others are making assumptions without having any experience in the film production process. first of the only thing that is 2k and possibly will remain so is CGI. this is the only thing in this film that 2k. the master that people are referring to is for full hd blu ray. second this films live shots were shot in 5k. yes 5k so this film will be able to display uhd normally which is not 4k. i hope people learn the difference despite the fact that the package material is confusing. these disc include two hdr grading formats and subsiquently have to be regraded. do you guys actually think they will skip starting from the source RAW and go straight to grading the 2k masters. actually think about it before you run with rumors. ive actually sen this movie in UHD HDr and the diffrence is very clear between 1080p and uhd.
