Great machine - I think I'm in love
on October 24, 2014

I was forced to make this purchase after my old Kenmore died on me (I was secretly rejoicing over that death). I did a lot of research before making the purchase - made easier by the fact that I already own the matching LG dryer. First of all this thing is huge! I can't believe how much I can get in there - more than 2 times what my old washer could do in a single load. This machine has probably given me back 2-3 hours of my life a week, and for that alone it is worth the money. A number of reviewers complained that the machine doesn't use enough water. I had over 2 weeks of dirty clothes piled up due to not having a machine (family of 5) so I immediately put this thing to use. I stood there and watched the entire first cycle, and I agree, that, at first it appears there is not enough water. Some of the clothes still had dry spots, but if you stand there for an hour like I did, the machine continues to add water and agitate until the clothes are fully saturated with soapy water. My clothes came out exceptionally clean, even with the relatively frugal amounts of water used. And now we can shower while the machine runs and not worry about running out of hot water! The clothes were also spun so well that my dryer time was cut significantly. I also saw reviewers claim that their clothes came out very wrinkled in this machine. I concur on that - I washed a load that included jeans and all of them were exceedingly wrinkled even after going through the dryer. That is annoying, but not enough to ruin my love affair with this machine. My clothes were cleaner than they had ever been in their clothing-lives. I can live with wrinkles. I had no problems with shaking or balance issues. I washed large loads, small loads, a king size comforter, towels, delicates, you name it. I used the soak cycle, the steam feature, etc. I have tried everything and I am extremely satisfied with this unit. I finished all our clothes in record time and I wish I had more because laundry is actually (almost) fun to do with this machine. As far as stain removal - I would say this machine does no better than my last one. I still have to pre-treat, but the soak feature is really a nice addition. I read in the manual that this machine cannot wash waterproof items. Just for kicks (and because I was dying to wash anything I could get my hands on) I stripped my boys waterproof mattress covers and washed those bad boys. And yes, it was a big fail. The mattress covers seemed to collect the dirt from everything else in the wash so at the end of the load they were filthy. I had to wash them by hand. So take it from me, don't go there. One minor criticism - this is my first HE machine. I had an old central agitator that required a lot of laundry soap. I have always used Tide and bought the Tide with the HE symbol on it (which can be used for HE or regular machines), and as far as I can tell, I am still using the same amount of soap. The cup size is the same as the regular Tide and since there are no instructions, I used a full cup. The first few loads smelled a lot like Tide, so I suspected I was overdoing it, but with no guidance, I am still trying to figure out how much is enough. The instructions could be clearer on this. In sum, great machine. It has changed my life and I no longer spend an entire Saturday trying and failing to do all the dirty laundry.

Good Dryer
on October 17, 2014

I have no complaints about this dryer. It performs well, and is easy to operate. I paid a little extra to get a dryer with the steam option, but I have to say I don't use it that often, but when I do, my clothes come out a little damp. Other than that, this is a great machine and Best Buy service was fantastic.

Can you use dryer sheets with this dryer?

Yes, I actually prefer dryer sheets to liquid softener and this dryer does well with the sheets.
