Much better on blu-ray

When i first seen this film it was in the IMAX in 3D
and for some reason it seemed so dark and hard to focus on
i couldn't really get into the film...but now on blu-ray with the brightness
turned up and the subtitles on...and some knowledge about the storyline....it is in fact much better...i've never seen the cartoon....
but i don't believe i would ever like it better especially if it is drawn anime style....as i find that very distracting i much prefer live action...
i think the storyline is great and imaginative and the cinematography
is amazing...the acting is a mixed bag....noah ringer does a great job
as anng the avatar.....everyone else is not quite as good.
still an enjoyable movie i guess just don't campare it to the cartoon .

more good than bad

I used to watch flipper all the time growing up
yes i'm that old...so when i saw this version on blu-ray
i gad to get it.
i think it's a very good blu-ray transfer.
i think paul hogan and johnathan banks were great
in their respective roles.
all the animal actors were also great.
i do have two gripes with this film though.

1. elijah woods acting seemed only believable some of the time
at other times he seemed to just be phoning it in not enough emotion in scenes that called for it and too much in others
and their was no real back story for this carector
this self centered kid arrive to stay with his uncle

Love the look and feel

I love the look and feel of this movie
it has a real ominous quality about it...with pleanty of suspence..
i enjoyed it greatly however every werewolf movie has to have
some shocking transformation sequences that you won't forget
i feel this movie was missing that also they need to stop making
movies where the werewolves look like big wolves they should still have some sort of human quality to be truly effective btw don't even get me started on the "twlight" "saga" as i have plenty to say about that nonsense...this movie it soo much better that that though probably because stephany meyer. was not consulted.

I'll explain i always make it a point to go into a movie
knowing more or less what to expect or not to expect therefore i was ready for what this movie was going to be about and for that reason i enjoyed it.

and the greatest acting you've ever seen then don't see this movie.
but if you like revenge flicks lots of shocking action, car chases etc.
then you may like this....what i didn't like was that best buy had in the the ad that there is a version thats in 3d + blu-ray +dvd +digital copy.
i went to the store and checked this out for myself and had three people running all over the store for 30min looking for this...
and in the end it turns out this version does not exsist the SKU NUMBER IS THE SAME AS THE ONE THAT HAS ONLY THE 3D DISK AND THE REGULAR BLU-RAY.. so i ended up buying just the blu-ray version. without the 3d.
and the greatest acting you've ever seen then don't see this movie.

Ok this is not a horrible film
but at the same time it can't decide if it want's to be a slow moving
love story or a monster flick....and IMO it doesn't meld the two well enough let me be blunt by listing some of the issues i have with this.

1. amphibious giant squids from outer space land in mexico set up shop and breed out of control and they can't be wiped out even with air strikes.
2. we never learn very much about these creatures
instead we are made to focus on this guy who is traveling with this girl and we get to hear all the "interesting" yawn things they say to each other. btw they should be scared out of thier minds but most of the time they don't seem to mind that there are giant carnivorous aliens roaming about.
they really didn't find a realistic balance between the monsters
and the so called "love story".

with nothing but talking heads and the movie has a real dank
look and feel to it....i give it a marginal see it once or twice if you have enough coffee on hand.

Good version after all

I bought this blu-ray yesterday and just watched it 3 hrs ago.
the movie is beautiful.
all the swearing is there and so is helens bare backside which you see
all of so i don't know what the other guy was talking about
the only parts that were cut was at the very end where helen is talking to the mariner and gives him a free gift something he'll need
and the part where they uncover the sir edmund hillary stone.
for some reason those parts are not in this version.
the movie is beautiful.

btw it says that this film is backordered but i know of at least one store that has copy's in stock so if you like good character driven
action films then this is a great one for you...

2. jack black in my opinion he's an underrated actor capable of
great comedy as well as subtle drama.
i know a couple of people who don't like him at all they try to say he's too childish and over the top etc etc.
but these same people think larry the "cable guy" is the second coming or something,
so you have to consider the source of opinions like that.
3. the rest of the cast was very good as well expecially jason seagal.

I liked this movie far better than the half blood prince.
the only problem i have with it is that there is almost no special features and i made the mistake of opening it before realizing it
and now that it's opened i can't exchange it for a better version.
so while the movie itself is very good i can't recommed this
cheaper version of it.

I was lucky enough to get 2 free movie screening passes to see this a month before it was released in theaters and the main reason i first wanted to see this was for Jay Chou because i thought he was a good actor in Initial D. This was actually good, it had a lot of action in it mixed with comedy. Definitely something worth checking out. Never seen the old Green Hornet so i dont know how this lives up to it but I believe they did a good job. I might be adding this to my blu ray collection!

I couldn't wait for this movie to come out in the Theater....

I Was first in line to see this one !
When the movie first started I thought I was in the wrong theater and that I had wandered into a horror movie, it looked nothing like the movie trailers I had been seeing on TV ... but after 10-15 minutes we were fighting Humongous Shogun Warriors Matrix style !!! Cinematics were a blast ! The story was suspenseful and Very Visual. It was different rooting for some Chicks instead of Bruce Willis or Some wimpy spider-man dork.
When the movie first started I thought I was in the wrong theater and that I had wandered into a horror movie, it looked nothing like the movie trailers I had been seeing on TV ... but after 10-15 minutes we were fighting Humongous Shogun Warriors Matrix style !!! Cinematics were a blast ! The story was suspenseful and Very Visual. It was different rooting for some Chicks instead of Bruce Willis or Some wimpy spider-man dork.
I was jammin during this movie both with the action and the tunes !!!
After it was over, When I was leaving the theater I was saying that I'm going to OWN a 3D TV before that movie comes out for home viewing. ....I worked hard, replaced a lot of equipment, bought new cables, 3D glasses, Blu-ray 3D player, etc and was ALL ready for the release.

I'm soo sorry but i can't bring myself to feel sorry for anyone who can afford a new 3D
TV and blu-ray player etc....besides more than likely there will be a 3D release in the future in the mean time there are alot of other great movies in 3D.

Being a Jurassic Park fan, I rushed out to but the Blu-ray trilogy on its release date. I have never been so disappointed in a digital transfer of a movie in my life. My old DVD's of Jurassic Park have a better picture than the new blu-rays. I am astounded that Universal would do such a poor job on the transfer of the films. I have other movies from Universal that are much older, like "The Blues Brothers" blu-ray (1980), and the picture of that is excellent. Not this! As a consumer, I expect a package labeled as "Perfect picture and sound" to be more than a slogan typed on a package. Whoever did the transfer for these movies didn't clean up the film at all. It looks more like a digital transfer of an old VHS tape that had been played 100 times. I have over 200 Blu-rays and none of them look as poor as this. Now I have to find out how to get my money back.

I have a 37in 120hz 1080P HDTV AND A SONY BDP-N460 BLU-RAY PLAYER
WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE..
these movies look almost as good as avatar on my set up
i have watched them several times now looking for gainyness etc and could not find any such issues i have found that sometimes a disk is not quite right
and i take it back and they will exchange it...other times it is just a matter
of getting the dust off the tv screen which can make any movie look grainy and adjusting it better for that movie.
this set is incredible and i have no regrets with the purchase i would say replace the disk if that doesnt solve it fiddle with the backlight contrast sharpness etc until it looks right to you or get a firmware update for your blu-ray player if you do all that and it's still not right then either you are being too picky or you need a new BETTER TV.

My friend you need to look into updating the firmware on your blu-ray player
take it in to be serviceed or buy another one...because odds are overwhelming
that after buying 3 blu-rays of the same movie
it has to be your equipment
and not the movie that is causing you issue.
then again you might just have the worst possible luck in the world
in which case i would have to ask did you upset anyone who knows vcoodoo ?

I was really enjoying this Jim Carrey comedy, up until the scene where his police officer character's alter-ego decides to help himself to some breast milk from a lady feeding her baby in the park. This movie's comedic elements are pretty distasteful and lack class.

slaps you right in the face this is a ferrelly bro's movie and jim carry
is a comic genious like it hate it or whatever the man is creative and a superlative actor not eveyone on the planet understands this but those who do no doubt enjoy the hell out of his movies comedy or drama ...if you require your comedy to be tasteful classy and organized then i suggest you look no further than the proper drama section next time...me i like it all or most of it anyway.

Rarely does a film has such an immediate and emotional impact as John Carter. The story is a 100 year old classic, and bringing it to the big screen by the director of Wall-E and Finding Nemo was a labor of love, and it shows throughout. The film gets better with repeat viewings, which is why you'll love having this in HD and in your library. I can't recommend it highly enough. You will have a blast.

Okay, Die Hard is one of my all time favorites, so I was stoked to see this release on sale for $9.99 at my store. With that said, I have already exchanged my copy twice, and the bluray will not load in my slim Ps3. As it is a game system, my firmware is at the latest release. I have been on AVS forums and other users have experienced the same problem with their copy's, on different bluray players from LG and even Panasonic. Buyer beware as BB has a strict return policy on copyrighted entertainment. I am sure they will allow an exception if you run into the same issue I am having. I will call 20th Century Fox to consult with a representative regarding the issue.

I THINK IT'S A SONY ISSUE

I took my first return in AND they put it in a old samsung blu-ray player and it worked fine but it definately with not work on my sony BDP S590.
TOOK IT IN TWICE to exchange and none of them worked for me.

I gave this review 1 star only for the fact that the Dolby True-HD soundtrack is totally whacked! The movie itself is fine (for what I've been able to see it could be a reference disc for video & audio if it didn't have this issue) but this blu-ray is unwatchable due to the bad audio coding. I've been through 2 copies and both are messed up and unplayable on any of my 3 blu-ray players (all with current firmware updates, etc.).
There's at least 4 times where the audio drops out and then the video freezes. So far Sony has not said what they plan to do (if anything) to fix the issue and offer customers a swap out for the flawed disc's. The only fix I've read about for Oppo owners (I have a BDP-83) is to switch the HDMI setting from Bitstream to PCM but we shouldn't have to do that in order to watch this film! Sony needs to fix the issue, repress the disc's and offer a swap to those of us that bought it. I'm about to take copy #2 back to Best Buy and see if they will now refund my money now that it's well known that all these disc's are bad!

I doubt best buy will refund your money
i had similar issues with DIE HARD ONE on blu-ray
taking it back 4 times in total and each time they only let me swap
it out and the 4th time they let me swap it for die hard 2 which works fine.
so good luck with your refund after it's been opened.
