Surprisingly watchable, this teenage Fatal Attraction is also a fine DVD. Basically all elements of this disc stand out, but the image gets the highest marks. Credit goes to Fox for presenting this film in both 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen on one side of the disc and a severely cropped pan-and-scan version on the other. While far from perfect, it does showcase a wonderful color palette, especially the use of blues. They are vivid and nicely saturated, creating a very cool visual style. Detail is generally strong, even if there are moments where the image is a bit soft. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track, isn't nearly as impressive, as it's centered far more up front that a film of it's type should be. Dialogue and sound effects are presented distinctly, but the lack of any significant surround material is somewhat disappointing. The supplements are split over the two sides, which seems odd at the films short 85-minute running time. Still, each side does include the same audio commentary track from director John Polson and stars Jesse Bradford and Erika Christensen. It's an engaging track as all three are very vocal, with plenty to say. Do they offer any startling revelations? Hardly, but they do show more enthusiasm that many commentary tracks on other discs. The extras are broken up from there. The widescreen side has ten deleted scenes with optional commentary from Polson, while the other side has a theatrical trailer for 28 Days Later (strangely enough there isn't a trailer for Swimfan), plus a ten-minute standard studio fluff piece with cast and crew interviews.

Not only is the movie one of the best of the year but this blu ray is perfect, the slip cover matches my Rise of the Planet of the Apes blu ray and I got it for an amazing price that was only offered at Best Buy.

This movie looks like another found footage piece of trash but manages to rise above the level of standard horror films and offers up genuine terror. It isn't perfect but it does manage to earn a nice place in the adventure/horror sub-category. Better than most of the poorly made horror films of today.
