Phirewulf's Reviews

Experience the lifelike thrill of virtual reality with the Oculus Rift. The remote, OLED display and IR LED sensor help you navigate through virtual worlds, while rotational and positional tracking let you play exclusive games like Lucky's Tale. The clear, high resolution on the Oculus Rift takes you even closer to reality.

Not worth $600

Like so many others I was on the VR Hype Train when one late night I bought the Rift.
*It arrived in 2 days with FREE shipping!
*The packaging was heavy, simple and fancy!
*The unit plugged in and was ready for use very quickly
*The Demo video was Extremely impressive!
*After all that the experience went down hill super fast!
*VR games were no where near as impressive as they look on YouTube.
*The "screen door" effect and the extremely low graphic quality destroyed the chance of immersion, and some games flat out made me sick from motion sickness.
* Subnautica was boring and unimpressive
*Luckey's Tale has no business being a VR Game
*Adr1ft was interesting but ultimately a little stale.
*Elite Dangerous was low Res, but really fun in VR. Distant enemies are very hard to see its like The Rift gives you Nearsightedness
*American Truck Simulator was an absolute blast to play! As a former truck driver I was blown away by how real it felt in The Rift, graphically it had some flaws and nearsightedness issues but pairing the Rift with a steering wheel could be a learning tool to drive a truck!
Sadly for me The Rift just is not ready for consumer use, maybe the second or third generation will be. I value The Rift as a $200 toy without the packaging and controller.

GREAT FOR 1080p
on May 13, 2016

Bought mine a few months back and it cost a pretty penny, but it felt great to own a flagship card! I decided to upgrade to a 4k monitor and well the card struggled to keep up with it. It gets 40-45 fps witcher 3 max settings but when recording (I am a youtuber/twitch streamer) its performance is much worse performing at about 27-30fps witcher 3 max settings.BUT honestly the worlds not ready for 4k yet and frankly 4k is not worth the $600+ monitor, its just not that much better. If you stick with 1080p monitors the Titan X is all powerful boasting well beyond 60fps in all games max settings recording or not.
A WARNING if you read this far you have earned the warning that NVIDIA is soon to be releasing a $600 Graphics card called a 1080gtx that out performs the Titan X in speed and has enough memory, you might wanna go look for one of those before investing in this one.

Very Slow Delivery, assembly can be difficult
on March 10, 2015

Let me get the bad stuff out of the way,the good will be at the bottom.
First off the chair arrived 5 days late, when it arrived the box was beaten, partially unsealed and had a hand size hole on the side of it. After inspecting the contents I was relieved to see it was all there and intact. So I started the assembly process, it was standard easy assembly all the way up to the arm rests (which are adjustable by the way) the instructions said attach the back rest to the arm rests then attach the seat, WRONG! It was a nightmare that way don't try it the holes will not line up for the other screws if you do. Attach the SEAT FIRST then Attach the Back, it is MUCH easier!
Now the actual chair review.
For reference purposes I am 6'1" 296 lbs (BIG MAN)
The chair sits higher up than other office chairs even at its lowest setting, it is soft comfy has great lumbar support and smells like leather! It has two handles(one on each side) that control the up/down recline and lock feature. THE ARM RESTS ARE ADJUSTABLE they go up and down which was not in the product info when I bought it so that is a nice plus.
The chairs seat curves downward, this makes me worry that once the chair starts to wear down that it will become difficult to sit in as you will slide off into the floor.
before buying this chair consider how far you are from Ontario, CA. because that is where it comes from and will reflect shipping prices and time of delivery by a lot, furthermore if you can't easily drop $300 on a chair then DO NOT DO IT! go to a store sit in the chairs and buy the one that you like the most, if that is not an option then buy one that has a rock solid high score and is affordable $189 is about where the good ones start at that price.
I am rating this item LOW and Not recommending it to a friend because of the delivery service, the Price and the assembly difficulty that I experienced.
