Took 3 times to get it nearly right

Long review but worth the read! I was happy with the Zagg shield that Best Buy installed on my iPhone a year ago. The salesperson at the mobile phone department did it - first try, no problems. Still good after a year. BUT that inspired me to get the Zagg shield for my new iPad mini. I bought it online and the following day went to the store to pick it up and to have them install it. It only cost about $7 to have it put onto my iPhone, so I was surprised to discover that it cost $15 to have them put this one onto my iPad. I guess it's more difficult to put it on a larger device than a phone. Oh well. Suddenly this screen protector got very pricey. I went for it anyway. They took my iPad back to the Geek Squad department and in 10 minutes or so returned -- screen protector installed. It looked terrible. Lots of visible bubbles all over. Small, raindrop sized bubbles. I said I was unhappy that it appeared they'd done a pretty lousy job of installing it. They sent over a manager who agreed with me and said they'd do it over. I was told to go get another new screen protector from the accessories department. Since I'd bought mine online, they had to tell me where to go find that department. They couldn't have sent someone for me?! I brought back the new one and this time about 15 more minutes later, they returned my iPad to me with this new Zagg installed. It wasn't perfect but looked much better. There still were bubbles and the guy said he tried many ways to get it right. I pointed out what clearly were two sand-sized specks of debris trapped under the screen protector as well as a partial fingerprint and his response was "well those are really small and hardly noticeable. Along with the bubbles, they were noticeable to ME. He told me to take it home and if I still wasn't happy to bring it back the next day and they'd try again. Great. Another 10 mile round trip drive. I went to The Apple Store that next day and everyone there I talked to agreed that Best Buy had really botched the installation. So I returned again to have them try again! All the people at the counter were different this time so I had to explain the problem all over again. This time the customer service person did go get a new screen protector so at least I didn't have to do that. She brought the iPad again to the behind-the-scenes work area. 10 minutes later she returned and hurray, finally it looked perfect! But by the time I got home 15 or 20 minutes later, the entire surface was covered with bubbles again!! Not as large as the previous ones had been, but I braced myself for another return trip the next day for another try! Then I looked for advice online and found that many people have had problems with installation of these Zaggs. And many had problems with Best Buy installing them. The Zagg site wasn't helpful at all, but I did find some sites and videos that said to wait 24-48 hours (some said 6 days!) and the bubbles should "work themselves out". That at least gave me some hope. The following morning the bubbles did indeed look smaller. I got out the squeegee tool and tried to coax some of them away. When that didn't work, I used the back of my fingernail and was able to gradually push one of the bubbles to the edge and found that it was a drop of liquid beneath the surface. So I spent the next 45 minutes or so of meticulous work to get many more... most of the bubbles out. I did some more a while later and eventually got all the bubbles out. What a pain!! Paying Best Buy $15 to install the thing was DEFINITELY not worth it! The thing is so expensive in the first place! And then to have to have them do the installation 3 times before it was even close to right?!! The Best Buy website says "We do these all the time so you can be sure it will be done right." Wrong!! I had to complete the task myself before I was happy with it. Good news is now it looks great and I'm typing on my iPad right now. Good product. BAD installation service.

It appears to be really protecting my phone's screen very well. The only issue I have experienced, that I didn't find as much with the screen protector I had on my 3GS is that I am having to clean the smudges off a lot. (Can't remember what the other screen protector I had was... it was sold to me when I purchased the phone case at a mall kiosk.) Cleaning the fingerprints and smudges is easy enough to do, it's just that I have to do it often during the day to see the screen clearly, especially in bright sunshine. I'm hoping this will last a long time, as my previous one did. If not, I was very happy that it has a lifetime guarantee.

I upgraded from an iPhone 3GS. The transition to this new phone was smooth. The screen appears sharper, the sound and image quality is great, though I can't really tell if there was improvement there. I had been sold on the idea that the internet speed would be better and it definitely appears that it is. It took me a little while to get the hang of some of the new features, and I haven't yet gotten along with Siri. I probably won't use that much. It's frustrating that she can't learn to understand some simple names and things. I speak in unaccented American English and Siri is not able to understand a last name that begins with "McG...". I also wanted Siri to open the navigation app "Waze", which I often use, but she got confused. She kept recognizing it as "ways" and insisting I don't have such an app. Aside from the problems with Siri, I'm very happy with my new phone and I got a great price because I was eligible for an AT&T upgrade. Oh, and I really am appreciating having a flash camera! The 3GS didn't have one. It also didn't have the capability of taking pictures from both sides of the phone. I'm happy this 4S can.

I needed to replace the external drive I use for back-up and wanted to get a replacement right away, so I went to Best Buy instead of purchasing a (possibly better and less expensive) drive somewhere online and having to wait for it to arrive. It's big and heavy and clunky, but this was the only drive the Best Buy store offered that worked with a Mac and also had the Firewire connection I needed. But as soon as I got this home and connected, I found it was so loud I couldn't stand it. My previous drive - an Iomega - was whisper quiet. I found it laughable that this G-Drive was described as "nearly silent". Anyway, I returned it the next day. (Thank you, Best Buy, for the "Hassle-Free Return policy".) Maybe something was wrong with the drive, but I didn't want to get another of the same brand, just to get it home and find out it was just the same. I got a refund. Then I did end up getting a better drive online for $70 less, from a different supplier and have been happy with it.

I tried to install it myself and it did not work. Can you reinstall the same one?

Zagg says once it's installed, the same one can't be removed and installed again. When I returned to Best Buy to have them do it 3 times (and they still didn't get it right), the Zagg they took off was a crumpled mess. Like trying to remove packing tape from a box and trying to use it over again. They will (try!) and do it over again with a free new screen protector if you paid them to install it and got it wrong, but if you opted to do it yourself and messed it up, you're out of luck.
