All the Singles,1/2 Unreissued!
on May 11, 2014

from Hudson,Fl.
This is the first comprehensive Collection of ATCO Singles the Boys from Long Island,N.Y. ever had! All but 2 (The 1984 "Mystery/The Stranger") are in pristine Mono, and Most never have been reissued, outside their respected 45's,on any other format! All have been faithfully been Remastered and even the CD Label Itself harkens back to the 1960's,a Yellow and White "ATCO Trumpet" 45 RPM Label! The Price is way lower that what You'd pay for one of the Original 45's! A must-Have for VF Fans!
My Best Buy number: 2154246990
What's great about it: Great Overall Sound,Great Label Art,Pricing

on April 27, 2011

This CD is a reissue of the 1997 Experience Hendrix/MCA Comp..it includes all the tracks the "New Rays Of the Rising Sun" left off, completing the Reprise '70's comps "War Heroes",Crash Landing" and "The Cry of Love",all issued after Jimi's untimely passing, the earlist of these from 1972,Plus the first legit issue of "The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice" (The 1972 Remix)..Better sound that its 1997 release too! Highly Recommended by me!
What's great about it: Better sound than original 1997 issue!

Jimi's First Rays!

This concert was the first for The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1967...it was released nearly 20 years later on Reprise as "Jimi Plays Monterey"...Brian Jones' voice now is front & center (On the Reprise version,he's off-miked,leading me to believe this version was from a fan tape copy, smuggled out the venue.) This was the concert that Monkees Micky Dolenz, dressed as a Indian and Peter Tork as a Hippie,Natch!,went to-They later signed him to open for them-it was disaterous-Jimi went on to Woodstock-Nuff said! I Highly Recommend This!
What's great about it: Better quality than the Reprise Version

Mantovani's Finest Hour!
on February 6, 2011

He was well known on both sides of "The Great Pond",yet,he didn't have a "Live" Lp..that is,until this London/DECCA UK Lp came out in 1969..the title in the US was "Mantovani Live at the Royal Festival Hall"..it contained just 12 tracks, yet its UK cousin sported 2 more and was retitled with this title on the CD..London/Polygram reissued this on CD in the '80's,but never with the impeccable sound this one has, thanx to Mike Dutton! Vocalion/Dutton Labs did this collector of Monty's recordings proud! Well done!
What's great about it: Better sound, new liners
What's not so great: Nothing..I love it!

AC/DC have been one of the world's truly great hard rock bands for more than 30 years, and the sound and fury of the group's stripped-to-the-bone, blues-shot boogie has stood the test of time far better than many of their hipper contemporaries. Anyone who doubts this needs to pick up Epic's superb double-disc DVD retrospective AC/DC: Family Jewels, which features 20 rarely seen television performances, promo clips, and live takes from 1975 to 1980, during Bon Scott's tenure with the band, and another 20 from 1980 on, when Brian Johnson took over as lead singer. This set serves up three hours of unflagging energy and thunderous guitars with lots of rockin' and little fuss, and that's reflected in the presentation on disc. All the material on AC/DC: Family Jewels has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, as originally shot, and while some of the source materials are a bit worse for wear, the transfers are sharp and rich, and the rarity of most of the Bon Scott material far outweighs the occasional emulsion scratches or technical anomalies. In the great AC/DC tradition of "simple is better," this set doesn't feature any surround sound remixes, multiple audio formats, or commentary tracks -- just strong, uncompressed PCM Stereo that captures the band's pile-driver sound with commendable force and accuracy; crank up your receiver and it'll sound like Malcolm Young is thrashing away at his Gibson SG right next to you. Predictably, there are no bonus materials beyond a discography on disc two, but given how complete this set it, and how well it has been put together, it's hard to imagine anyone who likes this band having room to complain -- this is a superb audio-visual crash course in the greatness that is AC/DC, and if you dig hard rock you need to have The Family Jewels in your DVD library.
