In this price range you would assume it was standard to have a Wifi card , Or Even an SSD, because this i give a four star.
Unit does come with a GTX 1080 8GB and plenty of USB's ( i use the majority of them ) also has a spot for an M.2 Which is really nice to have.

Ive installed a H1001 V2, a 256 samsung pro SSD
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great laptop but not without its flaws
By Neal
I bought this laptop on sale for 800 and used a coupon that got it down to $720. I think that price fits this laptop alot better than the $1000 mark it is now.
Screen: Size is nice, its thin and the bezels arent to massive. Youtube videos looks great, and colors are good. But the screen is my biggest complaint with this laptop. Since its not a matte type screen its like a mirror. Its not to bad indoors but its pretty much unusable outside in direct sunlight. I bought a matte screen protector for it the 2nd day i owned it for $12 and there is a night and day difference. Inside its perfect. outside is at least usable now. My second complaint is the brightness, i keep reaching over to check if the screen is on the max settings. Its not horrible but there really isnt to much a difference between high and low. My old toshiba i replaced with this was about twice as bright. If it was brighter using it outdoors wouldnt be so much of a issue.
Keyboard: No complaints with the keyboard. Keys feel great, theres a full number pad and plenty of short cuts. The backlit keyboard is nice and bright with a few difference brightness levels. It also looks amazing at night, looks like the keyboard is made of diamonds or something.
Touchpad: No complaints the sensitivity was a little high at first but turned it down a notch in windows and it works great. Even though there arent dedicated click buttons, it feels like there is. Its actually one of the better touch pads ive used in the past.
Overall design: The different posses are great. Its nice to be able to move it according to what im doing. Flipping it so the keyboard is down and the screen is closer to you is great for laying in bed. The hinge feels very well made. I owned a yoga before and this feels so much more sturdier. Screen barely moves when touched and moving the hinge has just enough pressure to feel durable but not be a pain to move. Really well built. The brushed aluminim is a finger print magnet but over all give its a luxury look and feel. The back ASUS logo on the screen also lights up which just looks great at night. Weight wise, its heavy but not bad to move around. Id rather take something made out of metal and deal with a little weight. Then to have something plastic and light. It a great mix between no compromises hardware and portability. You can buy lighter laptops but you will loose something this laptop has.
Speakers: They are average, fine when your in a quiet place but outside or in a busy work place they can be drowned out. The included speaker makes it better but i wouldnt bother with it. It sounds very "tin canny". One thing i do like is the speakers pretty much sound the same no matter if your in desktop mode or tablet mode.
Graphics: 840m is a nice extra but its limited because of cooling. Older games run great and even some newer games do. I played borderlands the presequal at 1080p and got about 45fps. Bf4 gets 30-40fps on medium at 1080p but thats where it goes downhill. Any game that uses the CPU and GPU at the same time causes the gpu to throttle. I opened the laptop up to take a look at the cooling system and there really isnt much there to keep everything cool while gaming. CPU and GPU are hooked up to the same copper pipe, which is cooled by one fan. The problem is that fan is suffocated by the back of the laptop. There are no vents or holes near the fan to get it fresh air. So temps shoot up and at 70c the gpu throttles down to the half way mark. You will go from 45fps to 20fps after just a few minutes. I ran a test with the back of the laptop off and temps were a good 15c lower. The gpu throttled a little here and there but made demanding games playable.
Optical drive is a nice touch and can be switched for a bluray, or taken out and used as a secondary hard drive. I plan to add a bluray player for movies.
1TB hard drive is nice, but its only 5200rpm and its slow. Should have atleast been 7200rpm, but can be switched to a SSD which i plan on doing.
Battery life: Normal battery life ive seen is about 5 hours. Said 8 at bestbuy but ive yet to come even close to that. Power saver gets you to 5, balanced gets you about 3.5-4.5, high performance gets you about 3. Gaming wise on battery you get a little over a hour. Battery life might be better, but since the screen isnt very bright 99% of the time you will have it on max.
Over all for the price i paid its a great laptop. Getting an i7, dedicated graphics, 1TB hdd, 15.6 in 1080p screen, backlit keyboard a name brand, and the flexibility is hard to come by for under a grand. Its a good laptop for 1k, but I would wait till bestbuy has a sale and drops it down to $800. With the screen and gpu complaints i feel like that is the price to pay. It seems to hit the price atleast once a month too. So be patient.

Great for everyday use. NOT for gaming!
By renegade200527
I bought this computer for the household and only some light gaming. It can play some....SOME games. It played Star Wars the Old Republic on low settings. It worked better then my old computer on higher settings but still lagged on some more graphic intensive scenes. Only on low it was smooth frame-rates. Couldn't even run Battlefield 3. My wife took it over now because it's perfect for browsing Facebook and emails and for watching Netflix. If you're looking for a low cost gaming computer like it advertises though, you're better off saving and going for something better.
