A major hit upon release, Thunder Road is widely considered to have started the "bootleggers in fast cars" subgenre, and the film remained a drive-in favorite in the American South for decades. Unfortunately, this first MGM DVD release of the famed cult classic leaves a lot to be desired. This edition only features the movie in the full-screen format though the print itself looks relatively clean and the Dolby Digital 2.0 audio track sounds fine. The only real extra is the original theatrical trailer; the promised "making of" booklet turns out to be nothing more than a listing of cast and crew. A future DVD edition of Thunder Road should include a "making of" featurette, as the story of star/producer/writer Robert Mitchum's exploits on location down South were actually wilder.

A co-worker and I were talking about old movies from the '50s when this movie title came up .I must have been 6 or 7 years old when my parents took me to a drive in movie theater to watch it The theme ( The Ballad of Thunder Road ) was constantly playing on the radio at the time . I bought the DVD and of course it is in B&W Wow , check out the state of the art special effects of the time ...
What's great about it: Nostalic Trip

I bought 2 copies ,one (the gift set ) I didn't open and left it in the mailer knowing it will be a collectors item later .The second copy I watched . Great movie , but it was better in IMAX .Also it would have been even better in full screen .
What's great about it: Good looking box with the badges .
What's not so great: NOT in full screen

A Classic ,lovenly restored .Truely a Collectable

Packaging was sort of on the heavy side from the weight of all the material that came with the Blu Ray ..I won't go into all the details but to a fan of a classic great movie like this ,everything in this package is well worth the price and destined to be collectables. the restoration was flawless and the color was eye popping . Great movie to watch with your S.O. or the whole family .The extras were great as well. There is a copy of the original radio broadcast included . One of the best of all time .
What's great about it: Bogart & Hephburn;at their best ( And in Blu Ray )
What's not so great: Sound was in mono.

Classic Hitchcock Remastered at it's best !!!!
on November 11, 2009

First of all , the 50th anniversary packaging . It is in the form of a small book about 43 plus pages of background on Alfred Hitchcock and each of the key actors in the movie . The Blu Ray disc is neatly concealed in the back cover of the book . Second , the remastered disc is absolutly amazing in clarity and the colors jump out at you . Finally , this is Alfred Hitchcock at his finest . He can illicit emotional responces from his audiences through various camera angles , background shots , close ups and simple facial expressions without the use of a lot of fancy special effects . Cary Grant , Eva Marie Saint , James Mason , well their performances added to this roller coaster of a suspence thiller . One of the best classics out there .There are about 2 plus hours of extras on this disc worth checking out . Great movie , well worth adding to your collection.
What's great about it: Awesomly remastered in Blu Ray , Great packaging .

Beter Than The First Transformer Movie
on November 9, 2009
Posted by: RottenRon

unlike the first movie , in 5.1 surround , Transformers 2 on Blue ray was released in Digital Theater Surround . Be warned that if you do have a home theater set up , hang on to somthing because you could be shaken out of your chair .The cinamatography was flawless in Blue Ray and the various parts where the Decepticona and the Autobots changed seemed to reach out and almost touch you . There are a lot of funny scenes and there are some scenes and situations that may be inapropriate for young viewers . Overall , a very fun movie . Worth adding to your collection .
What's great about it: House shaking DTS / Overall , a fun movie
What's not so great: Some content/Scenes/Situations inappropriate for young viewers

Renews The Original Franchise
on September 13, 2009

I was 14 years old when the original series came out in the fall of "66 . I"ve seen every episode at least a few dozen times ,so I am familiar with the direction the series took. I saw every Star Trek movie and this , by far , is the absolute best . The acting is spot on and a tribute to the original charactors . Great story line . The timeline in the past was altered , so this new series is taken on a whole new direction . Leonard Nimoy reprises his role as Spok . I will say no more least I give away the main plot . A MUST OWN !!!!! I smell a sequel . Everyone better "buckle UP!! "
What's great about it: Takes the series into a whole new direction ( I saw it in IMAX )

Great mind twisting storytelling - No commercials.

Takes off where season 4.0 left off . Answers are revealed . There are many surprises and twist and subplots . All must watch Daybreak , part 3 , the extended version . The DTS audio makes a great series better. A must have for BSG fans .
What's great about it: Awesome on Blu Ray DTS audio Good closure for a fine TV series.

Trailers were better than the movie

You might want to rent this before you buy . When are they going to give Nicolas Cage a good role to play ? The concept of the Time Capsule was good , but ran out of steam half way throgh the movie .
What's great about it: DVD extras
What's not so great: Plot seemed to drag on , very little character build up.

Better than I expected from a TV series
on June 23, 2009

Like some of the other reviewers mentioned , this takes off where T-1 and T-2 left off . Never saw the series when it came out on regular TV broadcast . I bought it after I saw the first episode of the second season . Summer Glau ( from the series Fire Fly ) is pretty good as the new Terminator protector of John Conner . The on going plot is riveting , especially without the commercials . The first season was shortened because of the writers strike , but still very good . I just pre-ordered the second season ( I only watched the first episode ) and I am looking forward to watching it .
What's great about it: Great continuity from episode to episode
What's not so great: 0
