I've had this camera for about 3 weeks now and I'm really happy with it. The install was very easy so not sure why some had issues. I used the WPS quick setup and it worked flawlessly. The night vision is wonderful and I love the notifications I can set up. The 130 degree wide field of view is a plus and I can view my entire living room, kitchen and dinning area. I live in an apartment and heard from neighbors that maintenance was leaving my door open when they were in my place after I told them to keep it closed so my cat doesn't get out. I was able to witness them indeed leaving the front door open after I got an alert there was motion in my apartment. This camera is inexpensive and a great deal. The app is buggy but no real issues.

I bought this and it was great at first but then I realized how uncomfortable it was. Couldn't write anything without having to take it off, sleeping with it was a pain, and the design was just plain annoying. Then after about 3 weeks of owning it, it was totally dead. Display lights wouldn't come on. I went to Best Buy and they said they have been getting several complaints of this. Do not buy!

does it have to be plugged into power source at all times or does it hold a charge?
It needs to be plugged into a power source.

Can this devise notify my smart phone if motion in a room is detected ?
Yes, it has motion detection and will alert you on your smart phone. You can have it record the motion too.
