"Buyer be aware" of...

This writer's review of the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 4000 begins (and continues) by comparing it to a past favorite of mine--the Microsoft Wireless Mouse "5000." Both models have blue track technology which can be used on almost any surface--except glass. Another great feature is that this model (just like the "5000) can work from up to 30 feet away. So many of the specifications offered by many sellers of this item state that it is good for up to 15 feet; however, I phoned Microsoft twice just to make sure and it is, in fact, good for up to 30 feet. I won't elaborate on "all" of the features during this product review; however, the advantage this "4000" model has over the Microsoft wireless 5000 model is that the 4000's Nano transceiver protrudes only some 1/4" once plugged into the computer; whereas, with the wireless 5000 model the Nano transceiver protrudes at least an inch after being plugged in. This is important to me as I always worry about bumping the 5000's Nano inadvertently. A lot of people would plug the Nano into a USB multi-port hub; however, I find with that configuration the mice "stutter" or don't respond as efficiently. Another great feature (similar to the 5000 mouse) is that the scroll wheel "rolls" smoothly rather than in ratchet style increments and when you are trying to zero in on a small area such as a line of a text it is much easier to achieve a precise location. It's super hard to find the Microsoft wireless mouse 5000 any more and I've seen them trending as high as $80 to $150 and Microsoft indicated to me that this wireless mouse 4000 will work just as well--only it is somewhat smaller in size. It is super comfortable to use! Lastly, the 5000 model requires two AA batteries and this one only requires one AA battery--less operational expense and lighter in weight. I use one for my office area and another while sitting in a Lazy Boy recliner several feet from a TV that is connected via HDMI cable to a laptop. Many thanks to Best Buy for offering a great sales price on this item!

This isn't a "television" as far as I'm concerned!

I purchased this 24" Insignia LED television model NS-24D310NA17 not with the intent of using it to view cable or over-the-air television programs! My intentions were to use this product as a "monitor" for my 15.6" laptop computer. I've connected them both together with an HDMI cable. The LED imagery of this TV "far" surpasses what is found on the laptop's monitor screen and this is not meant to be a criticism of the laptop's performance. This television, as the product specifications indicate, has a great viewing angle--step to the side or look at the TV screen from above or below and the images look great even under those viewing conditions. A lot of TVs these days don't have a headphone jack; however, this one does. In fact, there are "3" settings for the TV's speakers--on, off, and auto. I leave my 3.5mm m/f extension cord plugged in the back of the TV all of the time. What is also great is that this TV has "2" speakers and, in my opinion, they perform well enough for what I am using this TV for that I do not need external computer speakers. Each leg of the TV is only anchored with one tiny screw; however, when the legs are properly mounted on the TV and the screws are tightened, there is absolutely no movement. This TV is "extremely" light weight and that is a good thing! I made 1-1/2" high elevated platforms out of pine wood of adequate width and placed them under the TV's legs (after painting them and trimming them out) so that the TV is closer to being at eye level when placed on my computer desk. The estimated cost to operate this TV per year is $6.00 which is pretty economical. I replaced this TV's factory remote control with an Insignia remote control model NS-RMT415 as I feel that it's commands are better recognized by the TV.

Listen to music or news wherever you go with this Sangean AM/FM portable radio. Preset your ten favorite stations, and let favorite tunes sing you to sleep before the sleep timer turns everything off for the night. Alarm clock options and a snooze function on this Sangean AM/FM portable radio wake you on time.

What's with this radio?

Don't let this item's specifications fool you when it comes to the compact dimensions cited of around 8-1/2" Wide X 4-1/2" High. I certainly was concerned about how this radio would sound and of its ability to pull in radio stations--both music (FM) and talk radio (AM).The radio has a glossy black body that looks smart. It has a 27" telescoping antenna which is about as long as the large boom boxes used to have and I live in a condominium development surrounded by buildings in a rural area and my other radios have difficulty receiving so many radio stations. More specifically, this radio is able to pull in radio stations on both the AM & FM dials that I did not even know existed in my area! I've only used it during the day prior to writing this review and they say that night time listening gives better reception. We will see. The 27" antenna mentioned above is for FM listening; however, it has an internal Ferrite antenna for the AM antenna. I was told by a Sangean representative that the reception for this radio will match the reception of some of their more expensive radios. Sangean advises for improved AM reception, it "may" be necessary to reposition this radio for better reception of some "AM" stations and I got better results doing this--when needed. There are only 5 presets for FM and 5 presets for AM; however, they are extremely easy to set and not only can you go up an down the radio dial one digit at a time, but there is a separate button to "scan" and after you press it and release that button, it will find the next radio station that your area can receive on its own. By holding down the power button, you can adjust your radio auto shut off feature in case you want to play the radio at bed time. It will shut itself off at your prescribed time. Although it only has one 2-1/2" speaker, the sound is really great! You can use six AA standard batteries or rechargeable ones, but that was the only negative for me as the rechargeable batteries can be a bit pricey; however, you can leave the rechargeable batteries in the radio and there is a special button to press to charge them in the radio. This radio also has an alarm clock to wake up to radio or a buzzer that increases in volume in tolerable increments. The user's manual is a step-by-step guide, but I haven't tried to figure out that alarm clock function yet. The radio station dial is a fairly large (relatively speaking) L.E.D. readout that is pretty easy to see. It also comes with an AC power adapter of a decent length. I keep my radio plugged into a surge protector. This radio "exceeded" my expectations and I wish that I purchased it sooner and I think that future buyers of this item will feel that way also.
