Purchased in April 2014. Starting in late September 2015 I began to get UE error code. This is for uneven or unbalanced loads. I would have to manually adjust the load in order for the machine to continue with the cycle. After two weeks, each load would take about three hours to complete. Finally, I got an OE error code, which is for pinched or clogged drain hose. I replaced the drain hose and even checked the internal drain hoses for clogs. They were fine. Machine still would not work and displayed OE error. I called LG for assistance and they told me they no longer use the SmartDiagnosis to check for problems. They gave me the numbers of two authorized service companies. Both were hours away from me and refused to help. I called Best Buy and they sent a Geek Squad tech to diagnose the problem. After doing some tests I was told I have an older software version on the machine and in order to update it, I would have to replace the control board. That being said, the tech wasn't sure if that was the problem. He said it could be the drain pump. His suggestion was to buy a new machine or call LG and complain. I called LG and they couldn't care less.

If you want this machine, you will have to get used to an UE (uneven)error code. We bought this washer 1.5 years ago and has been nothing but frustrating. The washer has what LG calls a "smart drum" which means that it tries to balance to load when it spins. The reality is that you will use a lot of water, sort all your cloths to "like items", rewash your cloths, stand over the machine to see if it will work, and be left wanting a new washing machine. You can not put jeans in with Tee shirts and don't even bother washing bedding. You will get the UE, uneven code. The machine tries to rebalance the load by filling the tub with water again, so we are using at least double if not triple the water. If that weren't bad enough, you still are left with wet cloths which smell musty and you need to rewash the cloths. I finally called after the is inoperable at this point, and they suggested that I call for a repair. Looking at other reviews, I am not the only one. We are completely frustrated at this point with a new washer.

I started to get the UE codes and then OE codes. The OE code is for pinched or clogged drain hose. I started with the UE codes every load about two weeks ago and each load was taking longer and longer to complete. When the loads were taking three hours to complete I knew something was wrong. I then got the OE code. I changed the drain hose and even took the back off the machine and made sure the drain hoses in the machine were clear of clogs. They were fine. Even after replacing the drain hose, I got the OE error and the machine simply stopped working. I called LG for support and they gave me two repair centers that were hours away from me and declined to help me. I called Best Buy and they sent a tech out to examine the machine. I was told that the drain pump could be bad or perhaps the control board needed to be replaced. I was told I have an older software version and the only way to update it was to replace the control board. The machine is one year and five months old so just out of warranty. The Best Buy tech told me it would likely be less expensive to buy a new washer.
