Bought for wifes HTPC, ... working fairly well..
on February 27, 2015

Wifes seating position is about 10 feet from her HTPC. I have other logitech unity devices at my HTPC and they are working great. This one seems to pick up a little interference, but that may be more specific to it's location and proximity to other devices...
Adding a USB extension to get it away from the PC/monitor, etc seems to resolve the problem. Knock one star off for the fact that it doesn't come with a USB extension. (Some of the Logitech Keyboard/Mouse wireless combos do, ... probably for this reason...)
With USB extension, it's working great.

Great product, ... only one complaint...

My son has a PC with a dead on-board ethernet controller, so we used this to get him up and running. (lightning strike....)
Works great. Good range, fast as advertised (when used with an ASUS AC router..)
My only complaint, .... I don't like needing to use third party software to control wireless devices. Windows Zero Config works perfectly fine, ... let it do it's job. :) That being said, ... almost all major companies are doing the same thing, so it only loses 1 star for this...

Writing the same as I put on the 4-pack, ... because I bought 2 four packs and this 2 pack...
Used to buy the Energizer rechargeables, but I could never get more than 30 or so cycles (even with a good smart charger.) I've already got about 60 cycles on three of the batteries, and though the devices they are in don't have smart chargers, I cycle them once a month in the smart charger and they're good as new...

Logitech Wireless Mouse Marathon M705 lets you power on... and on. It uses less power than comparable wireless mice from other companies, so you'll go up to three full years between battery changes.¹ And it uses a tiny wireless receiver that stays plugged in to your computer, so your mouse is ready to go-whenever, wherever, and for as long as it takes. Plus, hyper-fast scrolling means you'll fly through long documents to find what you need in a flash. Advanced Optical Tracking means you'll get smooth, responsive cursor control. And the sculpted, right-hand shape means you'll be as comfortable finishing up as you were getting started.

Great mouse for the money. Working great on HTPC.

I use this mouse every day on my HTPC (we stream everything, etc...) Have had no trouble with it at all. (Unlike the R.A.T. 7 mouse and Razer Oroborous mice I bought for my gaming rig. One has static buildup issues, ... the other one had battery issues and died when it fell off my desk (both are over $100 each...)
Anyway, ... for $40 this mouse has really held up well... Battery lasts for months! HTPC is about 15 ft from my seating area, and no lag, always works as it should...
Highly recommend!

Problems with 2 out of 3, right out of boxes....
on February 27, 2015
Posted by: JeffIllinois
from Peoria, IL
So you think you saw the coolest mouse ever, in the fancy packaging, touting itself as the king of mice. Wireless gaming, adjustable, replaceable sides, high res., and thought "I just have to have that."
Well, ... that's what my kids and I thought. I bought three of them.
So, ... the packaging is confusing, which prompts you to read the manuals. (Which I ended up doing..) And once out of the packaging, we got them all hooked up and left them over-night to charge. Low and behold, the next day, ... two of the three didn't work, ... right out of the box.
TURNS OUT, A LOT OF THEM HAVE BAD BATTERIES! Now, ... you can contact the manufacture (which is what the website says to do if you get all three lights blinking,) but they'll tell you that they can send you a battery if you'll pay the shipping.. THEY ARE NiMH AA's (1 in each mouse.) The cost to ship them is the same as to stop and buy decent quality ones yourself.... So, ... do yourself a favor, ... EVEN IF YOUR BATTERY WORKS, ... GO BUY DECENT QUALITY ONES YOURSELF! Our third one would only run for about 4-5 hours before its battery was dead. So, ... we replaced that one as well. Now we get battery life it's "supposed" to get.
Even worse, ... THE BATTERY ONLY LASTS FOR 8-10 HOURS (NORMALLY!) Now, ... I have logitech mice around here that have had the same AA's in them for MONTHS that get heavy usage, .... no problem. These can't even make it a whole day???? Apparently, ... it's so important to have led's shining all over the place that they'd rather you can't get a full day out of a charge, just so you can see how pretty it is "while it works."
Secondly, ... two of the three mice we were replacing were R.A.T. 7's, ... that cost substantially less than these did, ... but were constructed with metal plates, ... lots of metal parts, etc... (While they do have their own issues, ... they are durable. THESE MICE ARE ALL PLASTIC! (FOR OVER $100)
We decided that although we'd have to charge them everyday, ... (and my oldest doesn't, ... he leaves his connected to USB all the time, defeating the purpose of wireless, ... because during the weekend, ... he can't even get through the day without it dying...) we'd keep them...
I should also mention that there are two versions of this mouse. Overseas you can get the same model but the back end of it has tabs you can push to remove it, giving you quick/easy access to the battery compartment. On the U.S. model, ... you have to take screws out. (Which don't come all the way out, so you don't lose them, ... but they also "stick" making it difficult to adjust the butt of the mouse and even more annoying when you want to change out the battery. (I bought two 4 packs of rechargeables, so if it did die while I was playing, I could swap out with a freshly charged one.)
Also, ... you'll notice within a month that the charger it comes with is NOT a smart charger, ... so battery life will quickly start to fall off (memory effect in NiMH batteries.) So, ... be prepared (if you want your batteries to last) to drop another $50 on a decent smart charger for NiMH AA's and do a refresh cycle on them at least once a month. (If you can get the battery out.. lol...)
Two months later, ... one is officially dead! Why?? It fell off my desk. (So, ... not covered under warranty) and not built to handle even the slightest fall... We're talking a 30 inch fall, for a lightweight mouse... DEAD!
So, ... my advice... If you want $20 worth of packaging and you don't mind a cheap plastic gaming mouse with lots of green glow, horrible battery life and that can't handle ANY form of fall, etc... Grab one up while you can! Woohoo! (Sarcasm! Save yourself the trouble, ... get something else....)
If I can't find something decent, from someone else (The R.A.T. 7 suffers from the fact that it doesn't have isolated circuitry, so touching any metal part on it with any static buildup immediately locks it up until you unplug it and plug it back in,) ... I guess have to go back to Logitech.. (Sad day, ... they're cheap, ... but at least if it breaks, ... I'm not out $100+)
P.S. I.T. guy with expensive taste in tech... I just can't seem to find a well built mouse. I should have known better. Have had several friends with Razer mice who've complained about pre-mature wear of all the pads and rubber surfaces... I thought I'd give them a try anyway, ... Wasn't worth it....

Six month of great washing...

Great product. We've had it for six months and not a problem at all. We are careful to check pockets, etc. I heave heard that most HE top loaders have pumps that can be damaged by things like coins, etc... Not sure it's really an issue (or something I need to worry about on this model) but we're careful anyway.
Custom wash modes is handy. Several load type options, temperature options, etc...
Best Buy delivery guy was supposed to send me a small bottle of touch up paint; as he scratched the front of our while hooking it up. (deep scratches, ... can see metal.) Never received it... Not real happy about that.... But that's not a product fault (other than that there's no more baked enamel finishes on washers and driers... :-( ) So I won't let that effect the rest of my review.

Very happy with this router. I have been using for a little over a month and it is working well. There are four of us in our family and we use the internet for everything! We have no cable TV or satellite, we stream everything. Three of us are PC gamers. This is the first router I've had that hasn't locked up at least once a week. (Crossing my fingers.) But ASUS over-powers most of their devices rather than underpowering them (processing power, memory, etc...) like so many other brands...
I'm an advanced user, but regardless, when I first connected it, I was pleasantly surprised everything was plug and play, the wifi was protected right off the bat, etc...
Highly recommend....

Great graphics card. Little short on memory.

Primary reason for building/modifying PC:Gaming
I've had this card for about two months in my primary gaming rig. Been solid/stable, no issues. I like that you can download their app for adjusting graphics card settings. Even for someone like me, who doesn't do a lot of overclocking, the fan adjustment tool is fantastic. (You can set the fan to come on at specific temperatures, etc...
The price is a bit high on these cards. Granted, they are FTW edition cards, but for the price, you can almost pick up a GTX 680.
MEMORY SHORTAGE! Considering that if you use two cards in SLI, you only get the video memory from one of the two cards, 2GB simply is not enough. It is perfectly fine for anyone with a single monitor setup. (Especially at 1080p# but people with super high res monitors and/or nVidia surround setups #3 monitors) it's a bit lacking, and you can easily hit the 2GB wall with many of todays current "top titles." This means that as games progress, this will become more of a problem. nVidia needs to stop selling 2GB versions for cards they want to have nVidia surround functionality...
Other than that, ... great card, ... no complaints...
What's great about it: Solid/Stable/Not too hot/good fan/adjustability
What's not so great: Price. Too close to the gtx 680 price.... Short on Memory...

Great processor, but not much better than I5-3570k

Build or modify your own PC:Yes

Primary reason for building/modifying PC:Gaming
Great processor, but for the price difference between this and the I5-3570k, I would have like to have seen more. In gaming, quite often the i5-3570k will benchmark slightly higher than the 3770k because the 3570 doesn't have hyperthreading. Just four straight cores. That being said, the first series Pentium 4 w/HT didn't do that well once dual core processors came out because the visible difference between an additional core and a single core with hyper-threading was extremely obvious. Intel should have done away with hyperthreading on four core (quad core# and higher machines.. It is almost completely useless.
These processors are great for overclocking #multiplier is unlocked,# though my opinion is based souly on reviews/benchmarks plainly available on the internet. #I don't do any overclocking myself..)
What's great about it: Fast/Unlocked multiplier//Bit more cache than i5/Reliable
What's not so great: Price difference i5-3570k to i7-3770k not justified.

Intel Solid-State Drives represent a revolutionary breakthrough that delivers a giant leap in storage performance. Unlike hard disk drives, Intel SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly rugged storage solution that also offers faster system responsiveness.Drawing from decades of memory engineering experience, and industry-leading, compute-quality NAND Flash memory manufacturing processes, Intel SSDs are designed to deliver outstanding performance for a wide range of computing applications. Intel SSDs also feature low write amplification and a unique wear-leveling design for higher reliability, meaning Intel SSDs not only perform better-they last longer.

One of the best all around SSD's on the market.
By JeffIllinois from Peoria, IL
I've had this drive for a few months, and have not experienced a single problem yet. I use a system with multiple boot devices. This drive is used for gaming. Not a single blue screen, lock-up, or drive related error yet...
The Intel 520 series uses a SandForce controller like most other SSD's, except that Intel wrote their own firmware for these drives. Their firmware took a chipset well known for blue screens and turned it into a speed demon that's as reliable as it is fast. I couldn't be happier with it.
When I purchased this 180GB SSD, it was $299, which was a bit high in my opinion. The price was recently reduced to $199, making it a fantastic deal for what you get.

Answering your question....
August 2, 2012
Almost all new SSD's have their own garbage collection methods, or will have TRIM enabled if they don't.... Unless you are writing and deleting lots of data all the time, I wouldn't worry about it anyway....
As far as whether it works with other drives, that is a somewhat complicated question, but I'll answer as best I can. If your laptop is running RAID-0 on the original two drives, then you will need to back up the drive elsewhere before installing the new SSD, because the data will be trash if you remove one of the drives. (Half of all data would be on each drive.) If you have one drive as your OS drive and one as seperate storage, then this should not be a problem. (If you have two seperate drive letters, one for each drive.) Just hook it up and away you go...
I'm not sure how old your laptop is, but if it does not have SATA-3, it's max read rate will be 300MB/s vs. the drives maximum 500MB/s. (Still, outrageously fast...) If the drives are on seperate drive letters, then the drives don't technically "work together," so you need not worry that the two drives are different types and sizes.... Assuming of course that your laptop does at least have a SATA HD connection, of course........

Extremely noisy

The WD internal hard drive is perhaps one of the noisiest commercially available drives on the market. I never realized how silent my Mac's native Matsui internal drive was until replacing it with this loud monstrosity.
Customer Avatar

Not your fault, but being loud should be expected.
April 19, 2013
1. Matsui doesn't make hard drives. Not sure who gave you that info, but your Mac more than likely has a Seagate or Western Digital Caviar drive. (Probably Seagate, though.)
2. This drive is a RE4 (Raid Edition) "ENTERPRISE" drive. They are not designed for home use, and when compared to the noise comming from the cooling fans in most of our servers, these drives are "quiet." They just aren't quiet enough to be in a home computer environment. From quietest to loudest you have the WD AV-GP, Caviar Blue, Caviar Green, WD Black and then the RE4's.
3. There is nothing about installing a hard drive that is worth $100. It is one of the easiest parts you can install in your computer. With the invent of "youtube" and other sources, you can easily find step by step instructions or videos on how to install your hard drive. Once you've done it once, ... you'll never waste $100 on installation again...

Could have been a great mouse
By Regelos
After a bunch of research I settled on this mouse since I want to buy something local and easy. I loved the mouse for about the first few days I used it and I encountered a charge problem. This mouse will only charge itself 10% of the time and on multiple computers will only do it after a restart, and even then inconsistently. I contacted support(within 4 days of purchasing) and I was told to go buy a new rechargeable battery, which just offended me because for 150 bucks on a mouse they should send me the part that was broken for free. After buying a new rechargeable battery it didn't fix the problem and since support takes multiple days to respond (I'm up to weeks now on my last response.) No go I've now decided to eat the 150 bucks and just replace it.
I will not buy another razer product again there support borders on rude and are completely non-helpful.

December 3, 2014
Just an FYI - USB 3.0 chipsets are not universally supported and usually don't have legacy kb/mouse support in bios either. On top of that, ... neither the mouse or keyboard send huge amounts of data in short spans, so you shouldn't have any need for them to be on USB3.0 anyway..

why best buy wont carry or sell mitsubishi lazar TV. The cost are down from when first came out. With this set you don't need to change bulbs.

Speaking from one consumer to another (BestBuy doesn't answer these questions, other consumers do) I can tell you that NO light module regardless of type, will last forever. And I'm sure that if/when you eventually have to replace the laser unit in those televisions, they will be very expensive.

That being said, ... regardless of laser technology, LED backlit LCD's are far less expensive and have bulb lifespans that for the average user, will last between 14-20 years.. (Probably longer than you'll have the TV....)

When using the internet browser on Google TV, can I access and stream videos from Hulu and other major network websites, or are they blocked?

Also, would I really need a cable box if I want to rely on the web browser to stream shows? I know I need an ISP.
Unless there is an app for a specific service, the answer to that question could change on a regular basis based on what the provider does with their services, website setup, etc... Essentially, the web browser built into Google TV does not have a lot of extension support, so I would probably guess that for the most part, you will not be able to stream from most sites using only the browser.

Is it expensive to have you guys hook up my stuff in my car and possibly have my deck taken out and cleaned??
Since these questions are not answered by BestBuy staff, I can only tell you what I personally would charge. But since it's fairly likely that I don't live in your region, it would probably be a waste of both of our time. :-)

For specifics on what BestBuy Geek Squad would charge, please call your local store and ask to speak with a Geek Squad Representative.

I purchased a Logi Tech Remote for my elderly friend and I need assistance in programming the remote. Where would be a good place to seek assistance

Remote Control programming
Know any geeky teenagers? :-)

You can probably obtain assistance through Geek Squad at Best Buy. Contact your local store to see whether they offer those types of services. I do not know of any other service providers that are specific to assisting with these types of devices. I certainly mean it when I ask; however, whether you know any geeky teenagers... They'd likely fly through setting up a universal remote... :-)

Did You Guy's Stop Selling Onkyo Receivers?

Best Buy has not stopped selling Onkyo brand Receivers. Go to BestBuy.com and type in the search bar "Onkyo Receivers." You will find several to choose from. Anything that says "Marketplace" is not being sold directly through Best Buy; however, I saw that several receivers were not marketplace, so it is apparent that BestBuy does in fact continue to sell them...

what is needed to stream sports games to a samsung 32 in flat screen tv without an internet connection?

Live in South jersey, residential area, have not gotten cable, how do I get sports games?
This would depend heavily on where you intend to stream them from.... There is no way to easily answer this question using only the details you have provided.

If it is going to stream from a specific streaming service, you would either need to find a compatible device for that specific service, or you will need to connect a PC/Laptop to TV.....

Adapter for monitor to laptop

My monitor has a 15 pin plug and no other plug ins. What adapter do it need
to connect my dell Inspiron 3135 laptop to the monitor
If the laptop only has HDMI (which is common on many new laptops) then there is no adapter available to connect to your monitor. Sorry... (HDMI is digital and VGA (15-pin) is analog. They are not capable of communicating with each other.)

How to fix a small scratch on my LCD TV screen?

In short, ... don't.. Most LCD TV's have a protective coating over the display. Any chemical that would fill the scratch will also likely have an adverse reaction with the coating.
