Hobby Level Microscope

This microscope would be better labeled “Digital Microscope Hobby”. It is not a professional instrument by any stretch and, using the word “Handheld” in the product description is an oxymoron.
That said, the image quality is quite good and the instrument can be very useful.
Pro's:
Good image quality. Easy setup.
Con's
Cheap plastic stand, difficult to focus and the vertical post is not long enough to allow for use at low magnifications.
The software is minimal and the ARCSOFT bundle is the same you get with webcams. I'm still looking for a way to adjust the white balance for use with external lighting because the LED's are not the best source for every type of use.
Suggestions:
Move up the price point a little and provide a precision stand allowing for easier focus and adjustment. Including the articulating stand that comes with the lower cost 2MP model would extend the usefulness.
For those that buy this microscope, I would suggest a VERY SMALL drop of light machine oil on the focusing slide to make it work smoother. If you are handy with tools, the vertical post can be changed out for a longer one for use at lower magnifications.
What's great about it: Good image quality. Easy setup.
What's not so great: Cheap plastic stand, difficult to focus and the vertical post is not long enough to allow for use at low magnifications.
I would recommend this to a friend!
