I don't typically write reviews but this experience was frustrating. I purchased this receiver online and picked it up from my local Best Buy. When I hooked it up, one HDMI input would not pass a signal. I did a lot of troubleshooting and confirmed that it was a bad input, not the cable or my source. I tried to exchange it but the store had no more. I got a refund and went to the next closest Best Buy to buy another one. When I got the 2nd one home, TWO HDMI inputs would not pass signal.
I contacted Sony support. They gave me 2 ridiculous suggestions, wouldn't answer any of my direct questions (I thought it might be an HDCP issue) and then told me that I would have to send the unit in for repair at my own expense. I promptly returned the 2nd unit.
This issue shows up on the Sony Support message boards as a very common issue with this line of receivers. Be forewarned.
I've always used Sony for my home AV. From receivers, to Blu-Ray players, to speakers... Their support (or lack of it) with this issue was disappointing. It was a huge waste of my time. I felt like I was more interested in troubleshooting the issue than the Support Rep. No more Sony for me.
