I note that in one of the answers, that the cable to the printer is not supplied. Would the USB connection from my current printer work? Also, I saw mention that the cable costs as mich as the printer. Please advise.
The USB cable connection from my prior printer did fit, as did two others I had. They seem to be pretty much interchangeable (to me).

HP2130 WILL PRINT FROM COMPUTER, BUT WON'T SCAN
I thought I was having the same issue, however I searched "scan" in options ON MY COMPUTER (accidentally) but it popped up and scans via the computer prompt! I found it accidentally! Hope this helps you! (*I am using Windows 8.1 - not sure what you have*).
