If the Faint re-sparked the whole dance rock genre, they are the ones leading back to obscurity with their latest album, Fascination. Its seems like its been a steady decline from their catchy beats to just distortion or sloppy use of synths. Granted from the artists' standpoint they are venturing into uncharted territory as they explore new sounds. I would compare this to Radiohead's "Hail to the theif". While lets say "Danse Macabre" is more like "OK Computer". Their on their experimental phase. If your into that then check "Forever growing Centipedes". Otherwise, dont.
What's great about it: The price was great
What's not so great: Distorted synths, uninspired lyrics
Smoking popes is one of those bands no one has heard of but everyone shouldve been listening to. Came out in the same era as The Smashing Pumpkins and No Doubt this 3 piece band shows its raw 90's clashed with raw emotion. Most emo bands would probably look to the popes as one of its influence and it shows in the follow up to the great debut album, "Born to Quit". Songs like "Let's hear it for love" or "Paul" are classics that are a must.
During the ska revival period of the 90's, Save Ferris is the up and coming buzz band that was destined for mainstream success. and with hits like "Superspy" or the Dexy's Midnight Runner's Cover of "Come on Eileen", Everything I want to be is a fun, upbeat album that launched their careers. Unfortunately, this became the pinnacle of their careers. If you want to listen to upbeat ska-swing, this album is for you.

The bounty hunters of the Cowboy Bebop's best sessions are rolled up in this 2 disc DVD that shows why this is one of the best Anime's to come out of Japan in a long time. The action scenes are the frenetic coupled with the smooth jazz backgrounds gives this Anime a unique flair. This is the "Greatest Hits" compilation so If you like these then I suggest buying the rest in the Cowboy Bebop Remix. See you later Cowboy!
What's great about it: All the best sessions in one
The interesting thing about this texas-based band is that they are almost a partridge family type band that keeps its talent roster between sisters. Two of em shares vocal duties. As for the CD, they previously released smaller EPs and you could tell the improvement in their sound. "Brightly Wound" and "Lost at Sea" are key tracks to listen to.
What's great about it: sweet melodic voice
What's not so great: Into thrash metal? Not for you!
I just simply love this album. Before Rilo Kiley went mainstream and focused on Jenny Lewis the singer, there was Rilo Kiley a semi-indie-folk band that shared songs from Lewis and Guitarist Blake Sennet. Granted, this was their second album, but songs like "Pictures of Success" or "Always" made them the cult favorites they are today.
Dead girls dont cry is one of my favorite Nekromantix albums. Starting from the evil chants to Black Wedding this delivers a furious blast of Psychobilly at its best. I recommend "Dead by Dawn". If your a fan of Mad Sin then I recommend this for you
What's great about it: More New Songs from Nekroman!
What's not so great: Dont expect them to chart into new sounds.
The debut album from Ukiah/LA Based Psychobilly band, Tiger Army proves Americans can make Psychobilly music as well. As with most Psychobilly bands, it shows the rockabilly infused with dark thems that make them unique on its own. I recommend, "Moonlight Dreams", and "Trance"
What's great about it: American Psychobilly at its best
What's not so great: People should know more about this band
their first full length album debuted this year and it was worth the wait. Most of the tracks came from their UK debut but added two more tracks to entice the American Audiences. Their sound is reminiscent of 50's/60's doo wop bands that makes them stand out from the mainstream. If you are a fan of the Puppini Sisters then this album is for you.
What's great about it: Upbeat pop that doesent make you sick
What's not so great: dont buy it if you have their album from the UK
Well, this is Jenny's first foray into solo stuff. Most of the songs are reminiscent of Rilo Kiley's debut EP where she re-teams with the Watson Twins to form songs done in the vein of Patsy Cline or Neko Case. I highly recommend tracks like the "Big Guns" or "Born Secular"
