Get a reliable portrait lens for your NEX camera with this Sony 50mm lens. It has a fast aperture of f/1.8 for solid performance under low-light conditions, and it can get in close to your subject — up to 1.5 feet. Add a 49mm filter to your Sony 50mm lens for lens protection and polarization effects.

Bought this lens for a trip to Punta Cana. Did not want to spend a lot for a lens to take to the beach. that being said this lens performed great. Image quality was great . I used this on the sony A7. yes the focus is a little slower than the more expensive lenses but not enough to warrant not buying it and with the firmware update to 3.1 it was a non issue.
others complain about the focus noise but for me it was a not an issue.
I also used it for video and the results were stunning. This little gem is great for family photos vacation and the all around snap shots. If you take the time to learn its limitations one can really get great results. nice affordable prime with out breaking the bank.
