If you are looking for something dangerous, new, fresh, different, modern, a little erotic and a little thrilling- you've come to the right movie. I was iffy about seeing it at my local theater but fifteen minutes in I was completely hooked. It has a very stark and cold tone that morphs into this really hot and heavy complex, strange and intriguing story.
I recommend this to anyone who understands it's a modern film and who enjoys a new and different story.
If your kid would like to see this, I suggest the parent see it first and decide if they want to expose their child to this lifestyle right away.
What's great about it: the acting, the dialog, the score
What's not so great: it didn't recieve much publicity or attention
Remakes are all the rage at the time, and when they remade the wolfman, people we're expecting a cgi-filled (fake looking), silly slasher. This is not that. This is not that stupid.
This is an actual remake. It sticks to the original story, it adds suspense, the budget to make it more realistic and complex, and it strays away from too much cgi. It is a "classic" remake. If they remade An American Werewolf in London but made it really serious- you wouldn't like it nearly as much.
This movie sticks to the light and dark tone, the cool creepy gypsy women, the ugly drinking townspeople, the snooty ignorant psychologists, the big creepy mansion, and the wolf-man that walks on TWO legs with fur popping out of what use to be the man's shirt. It's great stuff for someone who loves the genre! This is literally a classic-remake!
If you're looking for something beautiful, dark, romantic and bittersweet, this is it. I love this movie because its simple at first glance, but emotional and complex underneath. It's sad that it's hard to get a hold of, but at the very least rent it and enjoy.
What's great about it: the acting, the dialog, the mood.
What's not so great: low budget, not the best quality of camera.
You gotta love Sam Raimy. He and his brother wrote this together and it is one strange film. If you've ever heard "premise promise", this delivers.
"A loan officer ordered to evict an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, which turns her life into a living hell. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point." -IMDB
A film that will make you laugh, and not take it seriously, until the end.

What's great about it: the comedy mixed with horror
Just when you thought Romantic Comedies couldn't be original, you get slapped in the face by "The Proposal".
In the beginning it may seem "typical", though I didn't think so, but as the movie progresses it becomes more and more original, entertaining, funny, sweet and inviting.
If you can't connect with Sandra Bullock's character of a hard-working ice-queen, or Ryan Reynolds character of a hustle and bustle, not-given-the chance intern-type, you can surely connect with the slue of other characters that bring the movie full circle.
Rent, watch, buy and tell me what you think!
