So far so good with Pananax protective ring!

I've lost a AVR, DTV HD-DVR, 2 routers and a switch in total on separate occasions last year due to power / lightning surges. I've since added a MR5100 (home theater - HDTV, AVR, Bluray, DTV Genie, Laptop & switch), M4LT-EXs (router, NAS, PC & switch) and MD2-Cs (cable modem, switch, HDTV & DTV receiver) to create a Panamax protective ring around my wired (CAT6) network and connected equipment. I've NOT had any issue since I've integrated the Panamax equipment.

I researched and called Panamax a handful of times. They answered most of my questions immediately on the phone and consulted their engineers on one occasion then called me back.

I've found cheaper vendors online, but Best Buy (Magnolia - AUTHORIZED DEALER) was able to match the reasonable prices from *that river in South America*.

The key is to purchase from an authorized dealer and create a overall protective ring so you will NOT void the connected equipment warranty from Panamax.

In total, I've spent as much as I would've on an extended warranty for my TV alone. However, I feel that all of my connected equipment are better protected this way.

What's great about it: Lots of outlets, 1000-bit LAN, co-ax, option to turn down display brightness and knowledgeable support staffs.

What's not so great: Not cheap, but worth it.
