GREAT, BUT NOT AWESOME

First and foremost, they work! I wear glasses and passive 3D glasses that I have to wear in theaters suck. I get headaches from straining, just to see 3D. Now, having a 3D tv (Sony XBR55X850C), I needed glasses, and active 3D lenses were the only way to go. I originally purchased the XPAND Active 3D glasses, but I couldn't get them to pair with the TV. So, I had ordered these Sony 3D glasses, which I should have from the start, but they are hard to come by as they are always sold out, unless you were lucky to order when the short window comes up. These Sony 3D glasses paired without any major issues. I say major because I did have an issue when I originally paired. The directions state that once paired,, you will see a notification as such on the corner of the TV screen. SO I spent about 20 minutes looking for this thinking they were not pairing. After 20 minutes, I decided what the hell, and threw in my brand new Avatar 3D in my PS4. Guess what? The Sony Active 3D glasses were paired after all. All that is needed is to push the on button (located on top of the glasses) for two seconds and let it go. The lights on the glasses begin to blink green, yellow, green, yellow, green, yellow, then short green blinks there on after. There is no notification on screen that it is on. If it doesn't pair, the glasses will shut off automatically after 10 seconds. So I said these glasses were great, but not awesome. Why not awesome? I find theses Sony Active 3D glasses sure make the screen dim. The display on the TV is not bright as it should be. The colors and scene in Avatar was actually washed out some. I kept finding myself lifting my Active 3D glasses from my face to really see the difference. Without the glasses on, colors were amazing on the TV itself. Avatar is a dark scene movie, but the colors should pop out like it does without the 3D glasses on. SO I knocked a star off from this review for that single reason. It would be a perfect five, but since these Sony Active 3D glasses dulls the picture, I can't say this product is awesome. Any suggestions to make the TV brighter? I already have the brightness turned up the max. Maybe adjust picture modes to different scenes, i.e. movie, sports, etc., etc.? Since these are my first pair of active 3D glasses, I do know if this is normal behavior, so I really can't recommend this to anyone without knowing if the loss of brightness is normal or not. For those who wear glasses, then, yes, I do recommend these for the simple fact they are extremely light, and I have had no headaches while watching Avatar.

GREAT PICTURE, BUT....

Not sure if I have a dude, but the picture has awesome blacks, but when the screen first comes on, or changes inputs, there are numerous white, cloudy spots all over the screen, mainly around the corners, although, not actually at the corner, about 2-3 inches away, and some around the center. It's very annoying. Remotes freeze up frequently as well.

Very Good Active 3D Glasses

These are very good quality active 3D glasses. I bought them for my 2015 Sony 1080p Android 3D TV and 3D looks so good with it. It took a few minutes to set them up with the TV, but it wasn't very hard by any means. I find they rest very comfortably as well.

HOW DO YOU PAIR WITH 2015 SONY XBR55X850C

I tried pairing, wouldn't work. Turned the glasses on let it blink then held the button down again for a long press and the red light on the glasses blinked 6 times, but still did not pair with the tv. Yes, Bluetooth is "on" in the TV settings.

First off I want to say that I am definitely satisfied with this purchase. I made sure to do a lot of research before getting a TV and this is the one I decided on.

The TV looks amazing, and with more 4k content being released all the time this TV will be exactly what you need to be ready for the next level of HD.

Pros:
- Great image
- Good upscaling, makes 1080p images look even better.
- It uses android TV which serves to streamline some clunky TV UIs.

Cons.
- Playstation now is still as of now not available on the TV. This should be fixed in the future, along with other apps being released to Android TV.
- I got this TV for gaming at 4k, and even though it supposedly has HDMI 2.0 I have yet to get the tv running at 60Hz above 1920x1080.

PS NOW UPDATED!!

Playstation Now has been updated and working! I had a software update yesterday afternoon. The only issue I am having is pairing the PS4 controller with the tv, I am also having pairing issues with other Bluetooth devices, such as 3D glasses. Pairing does not work. I even hold both the PS4 controller and 3D glasses up to the front of the TV so it can be detected, and still no luck. Thinking Bluetooth pairing function is broke.

Playstation.now availability?

I signed up for PSN on my PS4 anticipating being able to play streamed games from an app on my 850C. I've been all over this TV and can not figure out how to do it. I did find a less than detailed note on the Sony.com site that suggested the service wouldn't be available until "summer" 2015. Is this the case???

Playstation Now is now available. I received the software update yesterday afternoon, and now have access to PS Now. Looks great, you even get an unlimited play for a month, but I am having trouble pairing my PS4 controller. Every time I try to, my PS4 turns on and ruins the pairing.

Just had 850c delivered. No owner's manual. How do I get one?

You can't. Sony website has the same packaged materials that you received available online. People are ticked off because of the lack of a complete manual.

what is the refresh rate?

I won't upgrade til the Sony 4Ks are upgraded to 240, vs 120. Sony doesn't list the refresh in its spec list anymore --why is that??

my mom has a standard directv reciver no hd would this 4k tv make her picture any better?

It will......slightly. But slightly is better than nothing.

You may want to hurry up and order as these are always sold out. I was lucky to order them yesterday, and an hour later, they were sold out online. As of the moment, they look to be available for online ordering. I had mine FEDEX and will receive them today. Hopefully I can get them to pair to the same tv (XBR55X850C) and have a review up shortly thereafter.

Will this TV work with my DirecTV

Or will it require additional equipment??

Yes, I have DirecTV and it works. If your meaning about the 4K content from DirecTV, yes, it is 4K DirecTV Ready. You will need to have DirecTV come out and do their thing in order to receive DirecTV 4K content though. I think they stated they will have full 4K capability support by end of June. you may want to call as they may have pushed this up.

what is the difference between xbr850c and xbr850b?

I somehow am feeling xbr850b has more features than xbr850c i.e. Skype integrated, webcam etc.

What am I missing? is this tv better than xbr850b? Any more killer features?

I am planning to buy ont this week am not able to find the XBR850b.

upgraded software. New X1 chip for 4k!

Does the XBR55X850C have SKYPE capability?

I know the older B series had SKYPE preinstalled however can I just download SKYPE from the google playstore and purchase the Sony webcam and use SKYPE that way?

You'll have to add your own camera and download Skype from the Google play store.
