An enjoyable sci-fi film with interesting concept

Anyone who skipped "Looper" when it first hit theaters should consider picking it up on Blu-ray now that it is available at a great price. The acting is solid, the concept is intriguing and there are some great action scenes. If there are any drawbacks, it is that the pace of the film slows down somewhat toward the end. Still, how can you go wrong with a time-traveling mobster film?

What's great about it: Lots of great action early on
What's not so great: A bit sappy toward the end

A return to form for The Fratellis

The Fratellis hooked me with their 2007 debut album, "Costello Music." Their second offering failed, in my opinion, to up the ante. But after a break, this British band returns with another strong effort in "We Need Medicine." It plays on the strengths of the debut and shows a more mature, confident band. The Fratellis aren't afraid to infuse their music with hints of their influences, but this new collection certainly sounds up to date.

What's great about it: Reminds me of why I love this band
What's not so great: No complaints

Great collection of British rock from 1980s-'90s

This soundtrack is not just for fans of the film. It offers some great songs that were popular in Britain just before the turn of the century. Among the highlights are songs from Primal Scream, the Stone Roses and a Soup Dragons take on the Rolling Stones' "im Free." An enjoyable listen.
