A Yakuza Love Story

Such a stylistic presentation of an allegorical Japan, this time through a very familiar plot device--the gangster and the femme fatale.
It's not film noir with strict adherence to that genre--instead, the director fuses it with a Japanese sensibility that just works.
The opening shot--wow!
No wonder Stanley Kubrick was influenced by this film--That entire scene, from the slow-mo effects, the doors opening, looking through the window, and the music, all ended up in The Shining.
This film is just wonderful and so stylish! This could have been made in 2013 and not be out of place.

What's great about it: Mariko Kaga haunting stare + everything else

A love story masterpiece

Masterful presentation of romantic longing and fleeting moments that will evoke great memories if you have life experience in those particular subjects.
Just a gorgeous, aching soundtrack. This Blu-ray version cleans up the audio and dialogue by restoring the LFE--which makes this purchase a worthy upgrade if you have prior versions of this masterpiece film.
Everything works--Such a wonderful film!

iPhone 5 features a 4" Retina display, the powerful A6 chip, an 8.0MP iSight camera with panorama, ultrafast wireless, iOS 6 and iCloud. Yet it's the thinnest, lightest iPhone ever.

The King of the Cellular Throne

Having been an ex-Android user, the fragmentation of the Google Play store has gotten cumbersome. Android has been getting more dated with each version and no longer free.
It feels wonderful to join the Apple ecosystem. The iPhone simply just works. I feel protected by Apple's gated community that will protect me from any malicious apps. Everything just has that polish. I don't have to worry about an app not working since it is clear and simple what works or not.
Very cheap for the quality and performance. The custom A6 processor is tuned specifically for the operating system so it doesn't waste the performance. I just feel great knowing Apple designed the hardware and the software together in harmony--unlike Google which allows some unknown third party design the hardware in hopes of working with Google's software.

Parents getting old will be a very familiar theme as the baby boomers age gracefully.
A wonderful surprise. Everything is done with nuance and subtlety. Details are very nicely performed and the acting executed well.
If you love family drams, this is one of the best films I've seen

Camera Obscura in motion

This is the kind of movie that you view at certain ages of your life. You should write down or mentally record what you feel. On subsequent viewings of a later age, do the same. The meaning of the movie will gain more nuance if not deeper meaning if the viewer picks up life experiences as that viewer re-watches the film.
If you are wont to just see a movie once, then perhaps the cinematography would be an aspect I would point out as a teaching tool. It is perhaps, reference quality. For those aspiring to break in the movie industry and just to pick up tips on photography, the shots of this film would surely reach the most critical and hardened viewer.
I would love to have this film be Criterion produced. Unfortunately, the packaging of this movie feels off. Too bright and too cloying. The physical presentation does not do the movie justice.
Another great offering by the wonderful director Terrence Malick.

Another great value from Brother
on April 13, 2013

Brothers are known for value and performance. Unlike the marketing machine of say HP, Brother are that dependable company that espouses the Midwestern quality of reliable performance at a manageable cost.
Brother lasers always print more than the rated toner. Their official replacement toners are much more cheaper than other manufacturers. They have extensive third party toner support but I like to support companies such as Brother that is fighting the behemoths such as HP.
Of course, my support is always dependent on quality. It doesn't do B&W printing better than other lasers but it doesn't do them any worse. Brothers are very reliable and this machines is no exception.
What's great about it: Ink costs
What's not so great: Starter catridges
