For his sophomore stab at directing, actor/writer/director Jon Favreau (Swingers, Made), took on this holiday comedy starring Saturday Night Live-alum Will Ferrell. Ferrell stars as Buddy, a regular-sized man who was raised as an elf by Santa Claus (Edward Asner). When the news is finally broken to Buddy that he's not a real elf, he decides to head back to his place of birth, New York City, in search of his biological family. Elf also stars James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, and Bob Newhart.

Great Christmas Movie
on November 15, 2008

Most of the Christmas Movies that I watch every Christmas are movies that I liked to watch when I was a kid, when Christmas was more exciting. I wish this movie had came out when I was a kid. This is probably the only Christmas film that I watch every Christmas that has come out within the last fifteen years. Great movie for the whole family, a must buy.
What's great about it: New Holiday Classic
What's not so great: Nothing

Disappointing Film

Even though I was disappointed, I thought the movie would be better, it was still an okay movie. There were several exciting scenes and even some funny moments. Overall it was a descent film.

Tim Burton's remake of Planet of the Apes gets the deluxe treatment from 20th Century Fox on this release. The disc offers a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1, while a Spanish soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a pair of audio commentaries (one by director Burton and a second by composer Danny Elfman), a half-dozen documentaries, extended scenes, multi-angle capabilities for some scenes, trailers, television commercials, a still art gallery, and a music video. Those with a DVD-ROM drive can access a script-to-screen comparison. This is a superb disc.

Bad Movie

If they want a new Planet of the Apes movie than they should have just remade the old one. Instead they tried to put on a hole new story that was just bad. I did not enjoy this film at all.

This performance video is a collection of highlights from standup comedy routines made during a tour across America during the summer of 2002. Directed by C.B. Harding (The Osbournes), The Blue Collar Comedy Tour Movie also incorporates behind-the-scenes segments with the individual comedians. Along the same lines as The Original Kings of Comedy, but marketed toward a radically different crowd, this comedy concert headlines the top names in so-called "redneck" humor: Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy. This film arrives after the four performers spent two years on the road and released the best-selling comedy record Blue Collar Comedy Tour Live.

Great idea turning this comedy show into a DVD. Now you can buy it and watch it several times, and laugh for hours. Great DVD.

Comedian Robin Williams once again takes on a dramatic role in the Holocaust film Jakob the Liar. Columbia has done an excellent job on this 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer, making sure that it's as close to reference quality as one can get. All aspects of this transfer, including colors, black levels, and flesh tones, look very even and well rendered. Also included on this disc is a full frame 1.33:1 version of the film. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and sounds exceptional. The use of directional sounds is present during almost the entire film, and no hiss or distortion is present during the feature. Also included on this disc are English subtitles. Jakob the Liar includes a small but substantial array of extra features. Director Peter Kassovitz's commentary track is both touching and enlightening, giving the viewer some special insights into the making of the film. Also included on this disc is a Dolby Digital 5.1 isolated musical score track, as well as a short "making of" featurette. While Jakob the Liar is not an overly packed disc, what consumers do get in the way of video, audio, and features should make for a nice viewing.

Good Film

Shows what was done to the Jews in the Holocaust before the death camps. It shows how Jews were forced to work in and live in ghettos. And surprisingly Robin Williams was very good in a serious role.

This is not a great movie, but it ends the Rocky mlovie legacy well. Rocky IV and Rocky V were such bad movies this was a good ending. Good movie to add to your collection.

Action Packed Film

This movie really flew under the radar, and not a lot of people have heard about it let alone scene it. But this is really an exciting movie, a lot of great Jet Li fight scenes, good acting, and a good plot. Since buying it I must have watched it about ten times

Bad Film

Nothing really happens in this movie. A lady and her daughter move into a house with a special room, and when three thugs break in they hid in the room. There are a few good scenes, but for the most part this is a mad film.

Weird Movie

I know this movie was made for children, but this film has to have one of the strangest premises. The movie is about penguins that sing to attract a mate, there is one penguin that can't sing so he dances, and in the end when the penguin's fish go missing they dance to get them back. STRANGE!

Some may say that this one is better than the first one, but I wouldn't go that far. This one is probably the worst one in the series. But don't get me wrong I still liked it and I have it in my collection.
