Things to keep in mind: * This is a different story in the same universe. * First version on next gen systems * A lot of the the actual play is better than any version before * Suffers from same graphics issues and gripes as every version before as they attempt to push their game engines limits. (All those games received 9/10) * Lead Designer left franchise * The new aliens and depth of story is lacking a bit. * Voice acting on point * More great music
What you can take away here is this game is really a great game, but received a lower score for those of us that have been with the franchise for a long time. You could feel a 'color-by-numbers' approach to the production of the title. They took few chances, delivered a clean experience and just like "The Force Awakens" attempted to re-intorduce a game franchise to a new generation.
Every Stephen King book isn't amazing and they sometimes follow the same formulas. Video games are no different. We discuss a bit of that in our podcast https://soundcloud.com/attleorldedia/wla-ep-43-mass-effect-andromeda.
