When I heard "In Common" I was hyped for a new Alicia Keys CD. Guess what? It's not on the cd!!!! Then the songs are not saying much. Seems that she wants to rap. Musically the cd is good. Lyrically to me it lacks speaking to everybody like her earlier music.
Maxwell is always struggling with whether to sing or not. And to me it shows in this album. The music is great but vocals are basic for someone that has been around for awhile. I attribute that with his 7 year hiatus. CD is ok but not impressed.
Najee has always been my favorite jazz artist. This new edition to his archive is great. He plays multiple wind instruments and seems to perfectly match each with the mood and tempo of the track. I always enjoy the guest appearances and half of the songs on this cd has someone amazing. Check out You, Me and Forever, Butterfly Girl, Signature and Jannah. I know you will love it!
OMG!!! Tweet is back with a vengeance! After listening to the intro I knew the time off meant nothing to her. I bought Charlene on Sunday and on Tuesday I still can't stop listening. Every song has meaning. No fill-in tracks. Magic, Priceless, Addicted, Got Whatcha Want & I Didn't Know are my favorites. But entire CD is crazy! Worth every penny!!!!
A lil disappointed with this latest release from Brian McKnight. Too many up tempo songs. That's not he's accustomed of giving his fans. And his songs featuring other artists (except his son) didn't seem to be comparable with Brian's style. Still haven't decided which songs I like. I'll have to listen a few more times.
Estelle lost her mind on this CD. Only 2 good songs with any substance (Conquerer & All That Matter). Seems she wanted to fit in with the teenage crowd by using the language that is supposed to be street. I definitely will wait til I hear more tracks from her the next time or by it when it's on sale.
I'm happy Jazmine is back! Always love the way she sings about various aspects of a relationship. Dumb, Veins, Mascara & Stanley are my faves. I suggest heading to best buy to get your copy!
while I love the back in the day funk sound (parliament, sly, bootsie) I'm having a hard time understanding the lyrical content. That's a lil different from his last releases. Maybe I lost touch with his voice since he's been away for a few years. I keep listening and listening but can't catch on. Guess I will just have to enjoy only the old school funky sound!!!!
